i also made shims by my self - just some flat steel stock part, cutting a slot into it, lift the engine a bit and slide it right into it. passenger side was (as far i remember) about 6 millimeter and driverside was 10 millimeter - sorry for the metric i also had to use shims wiht the...

    Carbed Magnum parts list?

yes .. you can put the V-belt set up (crank pulley, water pump pulley) on the Mag. maybe when using the Mag damper, you have to rework/slot one of the bolt holes on the crank pulley a bit a Mag can be disguised to look like an LA Motor. about the size - sorry - but best is to measure by...

    oil pan gasket

i used to cut those corner sections (that part with the nipples) from the LA gasket, placed them where they normlly belong and trimmed them to be flush with the pan arch - a litte dip of rtv and put the one piece magnum gasket over it... voila: no leaking

    Carbed Magnum parts list?

no - it will not fit...beside the fact that they are casted totally different, simply look at the gaskets, magnum and LA waterpumps do have a different rotation direction

Can you use a mechanical fuel pump with Magnum front cover?

if you have the LA-Stuff (timing chain cover, waterpump etc) you can simply switch it from the LA-enginge to the magnum only need are new gaskets and the cam-snout-extension to run the mech fuel pump. just done it last week if not ... i guess you can get all the stuff needed here on FABO for...

    mounting ears - 5.9 5.2 any differences

short update... driver side: if you have an early a-body mount you can use it, i only needed a 0.075" washer passenger side: the magnum block has different ear lobes compared to a 273/318 LA-Block, so lower lope on the rear is missing and instead of that, it has one on the front side...

    Crank sprocket slot options

normally the slots have different forms at the top - one is square, one is round and one is shaped like a triangle - and therefore you can find the corresponding stamps on the sproket - and as magnummopar allready wrote each one stands for "0", "4* BTDC" and "4* ATDC".

    mounting ears - 5.9 5.2 any differences

just sitting in the office, and it pops up in my mind... maybe a stupid question: - is there any difference regarding the mounting ears on 5.2 and 5.9 magnum blocks ? i´m asking because i will avoid to run into problems when swaping my 273 out and putting the 5.2 in so the question cld...

which cam would you choose 5.2 magnum

would be completely dressed up like an early LA - so i will use LA timing cover, water pump...etc... i know i would need a snout extension for the mech. fuel pump then..

which cam would you choose 5.2 magnum

hi Folks... Looks like i´m a bit fucked up now... as i mentioned above...the stock cam out of the 5.2 is trash... so i took an other used cam, which was offered my from a shop here in Germany for about 100 euros. now as i have this in my hands, i just took measurements as the shop-owner...

Thanks mickec, looks like i would also go with the complete Hughes package. Guess it will be the easiest way to get all parts machting.

    retainers for larger diameter springs

@ Marcohotrod, it's not about the springs itself. It's about the retainers. I'm just on my way to build a mild 5.2 magnum. And when it comes to the point to upgrade springs to use a bigger cam than stock, you may als get to the point, that you will need retainers with an other diameter...

    retainers for larger diameter springs

Hi Folks, maybe the next dumb question, but as Chrysler Engines are not so common in Germany, i´m in need of some help. most of those who have done the Magnum swap and running bigger springs on the Magnum heads recommend to use the springs from 2.2 or 2.5 Chrysler engines. and now...

    valve springs - recommendations

thanks for your input... in the meanwhile i looked out for a new cam, as the original one shows dezent wear on 2 lobes... (but i cld. not see or feel any wear on the corresponding lifters - guess i will put in new ones to be sure everything is fine) a motorshop (which does mostly...

    valve springs - recommendations

as it turns out that i will go on further with putting a 5.2 magnum into the 65 B´cuda and let the 273 as it is at the moment and store it away...it leads me to the well known weak point of stock magnum valve springs... what do the members who drive magnum engines here use ? what will be...
