    Intake manifold bolts

So I removed my intake manifold and one of the bolts captive washer was broken so I ordered a full set from Year One. I told them what I had and the size of the bolt including that it had a captive washer. This is what they sent me. Does anyone know where I could get a real replacement set?

Okay quick question. Putting the exhaust manifold back on drivers side with a gasket should the heat shield go head side or manifold side? Thanks...

    Removing 340 heads

Factory. This car is "all" original #'s matching stock. The only thing that's been replaced on the engine since I had it was the water and fuel pump.

    Removing 340 heads

I already replaced the VC gaskets and they still leaked a little and I had some room to tighten them down but the intake gaskets were almost dissolved by the time I removed the intake. I have some original cork. Any suggestions on what would be better?

    Removing 340 heads

This car sat for 25 years on jack stands. I've been working on the brakes knowing I have some leakage from the valve covers but after running the engine for the last few weeks severe leaks developed that required some level of disassembly. I couldn't see well enough around the back of the...

    Removing 340 heads

Okay finally got back to this. So, I went ahead and tested compression on each cylinder to thinking that maybe I don't have to change the gaskets. Each cylinder tested out at 170 - 175 PSI. I take it that is where they are supposed to be and indicates no leaks requiring replacement. So my...

    Removing 340 heads

Okay, got the manifold off and down out of the way. A little tug with a long screw driver popped it that extra little bit. Put it back on just to make sure it would go without problems. I left the studs in as you suggested. I agree it will make it easier in reinstalling. I have a set of...

    Removing 340 heads

Okay, got everything off except the exhaust manifolds. There are studs in the head that prevent me from easily moving or removing them at least on the passenger side. I haven't unbolted the drivers side yet. One thing the exhaust manifold on the passenger side does not have a gasket. Is...

    Removing 340 heads

It's been a long time since I tried removing heads while the engine is still in the car so please refresh my memory. What's the best way to do this without damaging anything? Thanks

Turn Over my 340, Sleeping For 17 years

I had similar questions when pulling my 340 dart off the jack stands where it had sat for almost 25 years. First thing I did was replace all fluids and hoses. Then the gas tank and fuel lines. Rebuilt the brake system with all new lines. Then pulled the plugs, squirted some MM in each...
