What you have is correct for a '69.

That is the difference between a '68 cable and a '69. Compare the PNs.

NOS- long cable=4 3/8"spring, short cable= 4 3/4" spring.

In '69 Chrysler redesigned the self adjusters for just that very reason, so, if you replace the adjusters, get them for a '69 or later to eliminate that possibility.

With a little grease in the cavity between the lips to keep the outer lip lubricated.

They are called Tinnerman nuts and are used to hold the drums on the axles as the vehicle goes down the assembly line.

The meas. from the flat area with the 5 holes where the nuts and lock washers that hold the backing plate to the rearend housing fit, to the pads that the tabs on the edge of the shoes ride against, the dim. is: 1 3/4" wide...

I have Magnum Force drop spindles and they have a machined area on the back side where the bracket mounting bosses contact the spindle. I've got pin type calipers and brackets and they fit fine. Yours appear to be slider type, so, maybe that's the problem.

The '68 and earlier adjusters have the potential to over tighten the brakes, They redesigned the adjusters beginning in '69 to prevent this. My guess is, they don't offer the earlier kits anymore because of this possible problem.

Hello; I'm wondering if, when someone installed the 8 3/4, they retained the 9" backing plates. 9" brakes are 2" wide instead of 1 3/4", which is what a '69 A body with an 8 3/4 rear should have. 10" backing plates are 11" in dia. and have very little offset. I don't know much about 9"...

Hey , I might as well jump in here too. NOS Mopar joints have the same forging number regardless of whether the're for drum or disc application.The early, '72- mounting holes are 3 3/4" CL-CL The one in the picture with the pimple on the side, looks to be a '73+. Those measure 4 1/4" CL-CL...

The Kelsey Hayes 4 piston caliper bolts directly to the spindle. The later single piston style uses an adapter for mounting.

Drill & tap the end of a 3/8-24 bolt & screw in a 1/4-28 grease fitting.Screw this into the caliper body just snugging it down. Plug the other hole(s) with bleeder screw(s), attach a hand gun, and pump away. If one moves and the other one doesn't, which it probably will, clean it up, reinstall...
