Rear drum to disk with 7 1/4 rear end

Ok, it depends on what year 7 1/4. Cause your going to need the 2 1/2 offset for the 2 1/2 rear drum brakes. I have this set up on my 8 3/4 and I helped a guy in Arkansas do this set up on his 8 1/4 rear. It's easier to do this on a c-clip rear since that's what they come off of.

    Line Lock Installation

Basically they are blocking the fluid to the rear so when they put their foot on the brake they lock the front, but don't lock the back by blocking pressure. I do like the setup, but it wouldn't work for me with a four speed. If my car was an auto I would probably do it this way.

    Line Lock Installation

For auto's that's a cool way to do it, but for a four speed it would be hard.

    8 3/4 brake parts...

Well, you can get all that at the parts store. If your taking the time for longer shock mounts then you might also look for a longer rear rubber brake line so it doesn't pull it too tight when you launch.

DOT 5 experts please read -

This is one thing I'm still working on with the Valiant. Yes I'm using Dot 5 also, I'm not an expert though. I'm still getting those little fine air bubbles. I also put teflon tape around the bleeder that helped a bunch. I haven't drove my car yet, but it has a half a pedal at the moment...

    swapping rearends 7.25 to 8.25

I would think that it would have to go by years. If you are running the wide shoe then you can rob parts from the 5th avenue's from the 80's cause those 7 1/4's had the same brakes as the 8 1/4's. But the 7 1/4 rear that was originally in my 64 Valiant wouldn't work case the shoes wouldn't fit...

    Swapping Rearends need brake help

You might want to see if you can't just swap axles and brakes instead of the whole rearend, unless there are different gears in the newer rearend you want. Really if you're going to change the whole rearend out you might want to just get an 8 1/4 or 8 3/4 or better yet a Dana. Depends what you...

    Yukon A-Body Axles / C-Body Brakes

When I put the 10 by 2.5 brakes on my car that came on my 8 1/4 out of a 74 A-body I use the all the 89 fifth avenue brack hard including the e-brack lever inside and used the stock e-brack cables on the car. Then I put all that on the 8 3/4, worked perfectly on both. Which if anybody wants...

    Rear brakes on 8 1/4 to 8 3/4 axle?

You'll run into trouble with the drums, cause of the different lug pattern in the back. If I'm not mistaken. If you upgrade to the big pattern axle with the big brake spacing then it work. I've done it. Then turned around and put a rear disk brakes off of an 96 Grand Cherokee. This took a...
