    Alum Heads

Way oversimplified, but if the goal is power, and you are talking Mopar small block head choices, put the biggest port volume on it you can and cam it properly for your goal. There’s some subtleties to that but it’s a solid rule to go by if you done need to sweat initial investment and have a...

She rips now!!! Dual quad 1965 dart.

I’d give it a Comet wash being careful around the lettering. Then clear it or rub it fown with linseed oil.. I love that patina.

Please share comments about Mopar restoration shops

Anyone that expects a full restoration marked by months and not years has no idea what it takes as a business to stay in business. You have to have multiple cars in process to make payroll week in and out, regardless of delays in parts or subassembly restoration (chrominance, etc). Which means...

    Insurance while racing street car?

nothing. You sign a waiver to race for the same reason. Insurance is not for racing, but rather to protect you while driving on the street.. and a little heads up... if you are found partially at fault on the street even while just cruising the insurance pays out less. With insurance you are...

    FB timing issues

I’m active on FB. The vast majority of respondents have no clue how cars work, regardless of the subject. You can’t educate everyone do sometimes it’s best to just don’t go down that rabbit hole...

    Parts Prices, WTF?!

Selling anything can be difficult. Everyone’s perspective is unique. I’ve tossed plenty and probably will do more because even free it’s too much for anybody... I take that to mean it’s junk so I toss it.

    74 Valiant - Facebook

I liked that. It does seem a little steep for what it is, but that just may be me. He's right - you won't find a rust free coupe for that money.

    440 six pack high idle

Another thought looking at the picture... I'm fairly sure that's a std v8 throttle cable bracket and kickdown setup. It's not set up right for it to operate... not the throttle or the transmission. So you may want to either modify that bracket and kickdown to get things in line, or buy the...

    440 six pack high idle

The issue with manuals is they refer to correct for the year/model parts. Your car is a hodge podge so you need to know all bits outside of the manual. on the 6bbl it’s easy. It’s basically a vacuum secondary 4bbl. The center are the primaries. The outboards are the secondaries. Isolate the...

    440 six pack high idle

Leave that disconnected. with the advance - if you shut it off, the weights should return to “o”. Very light springs will make it idle high but it should still shut off if the throttle closes.

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

If the chamber is black it’s burning oil. Simple as that. Geometry on a Mopar shaft system is the valve job. You can correct for it but I’d suggest giving Mike at B3 a call and he can walk you through getting what he needs to fix it. That busing is oilite bronze. Shatter it into pieces and push...

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

The top mark is top ring. 2nd mark is the 2nd ring, which is an oil scraper do the witness Mark will be different. That’s a lot of oil for a fresh engine. Pattern on the valve tips is not detonation but does show issues with the geometry. Bushing should be able to be removed - if you have to...

    440 six pack high idle

Always adjust timing before the carb(s). It sounds like a carb issue for sure. Disconnect the outboards and I’d suggest taking a flat blade screwdriver and go down past the boosters on the outboards and tap the throttle plates to verify they’re closed. Then tune just off the center to get the...

    ReMan Heads?

Those heads have oem valves, with the exhaust rotators. I would advise not getting this model from them. I can’t comment to workmanship but those parts are not great for any performance build. So now you need 8new valves, retainers, and locks just to have them stable for any decent abuse.

Uncle Tony fires up the bird, first time in years.

I wonder how many of the ball busters write checks rather than doing everything themselves.

Uncle Tony fires up the bird, first time in years.

Yeah it’s a 400. He listed the basics on his fuel pump video. sounded decent. I’m not a fan of the glass packs and I’d have progressive linkage and an air filter. But, it ain’t my car and I give kudos to anyone that had a running big block car.

    Interior vs Body Work

Pull the interior, do the body and paint, including the floors and jambs. Then when the paint work is done, put the new interior in. Otherwise you’ll be pulling fresh interior to fix and finish the floors. If it was me, I’d also drop the driveline out the bottom and do the engine bay properly at...

    another ''whats it worth'' thread/question

So you’re going to pay that for it? No. You just think somebody else will. I’m a skeptic. Im not saying it’s not nice. It’s a cool ride and looks well done. But the market is not “all that” for customized A Bodies. If it was a Hemi clone done to look original I’d agree. It’s a hot rod, and...

    another ''whats it worth'' thread/question

The question is more about what someone will pay. It’s not worth the sum of the parts. I’d say because it’s more go than show somewhere in the $20-25k area? More if you find “the ***” for your seat.

From the rusty hardware parts department of WTF

In order to get my Imperial into the garage (2-car, under my house) to do body and paint, I had to reorganize my “storage side” and “work side”. That meant finally emptying all the bins and cans and trays of misc hardware dating back to the 80s in done cases. I now have a semi-sorted hardware...

    galen govier

I’ve had Mopars since before they were “all that”. Galens been a douche since day three, and that’s probably because the first two days were Monday and Tuesday. He’s egotistical and arrogant, and only partially reliable to do what he says he will. The govier blessing on a car to me means the...
