    I did one on a Ford 302 about 40 years ago when they first came out. Great throttle response but also instant pinging. By the time I dialed in the carb and timing to minimize it, any mileage gain was negated.

    Around 1982 my daily driver was a 1966 GTO 3x2. Hi-Octane gasoline had basically disappeared from the Chicago area so we were using additives (something like 104+?, etc.) which helped but accelerated needle wear especially on the center carb.     On my cap the old seal just pulled out over the center and then installed the new one. It's not riveted just tight around the bottom of the center where it indents in.
