    Balancer slides in on install

Just to update this thread, I ordered a basic Dampener from Summit crossing my fingers it would be a press fit and not a bad crank. Didn't have time for a full install, but yesterday went out to the garage quickly and tried to slide it on the crank snout- it slides on by hand the first bit, but...

    Balancer slides in on install

Yes, but I'm building a Mopar as we know, and its different lol...but will be interesting to see, as the whole build was pretty no expense spared.

    Balancer slides in on install

My Dad and Brother built a pretty stout 488" stroker Pontiac for my brothers 71 Lemans a few years back, going to see if they remember what the balancer was like going off and the new one going on just for curiosity sake.

    Balancer slides in on install

This is the thing- nothing I can find says that it NEEDS to be a press fit as a requirement...Not saying that it isn't, but I can't seem to find any proof other then what we all generally would believe as a requirement. Even in the factory service manual, I can't find anything that would say...

    Balancer slides in on install

What exactly are you saying? Maybe I am misunderstanding, but I am also getting some numbers from elsewhere and I just want to find a decent range that hopefully lands me in the middle. I am also going to measure the inside of the balancer.

    Balancer slides in on install

Thank you! Going to measure tonight, really hoping mine is in spec and its just a balancer replacement that's needed.

    Balancer slides in on install

Would anybody happen to know the factory spec for the snout diameter on a cast 360 crank? That might be easier then trying to wait on finding a used balancer to check, since I can get the balancer off after work tonight to measure mine

    Balancer slides in on install

Sorry, I need to edit my post... It was turned 10/10 by whoever was in it last, BEFORE me

    Balancer slides in on install

Well this crank was turned 10/10 before I got to it (found on disassembly it was turned and cylinders bored .030 over), so Im gonna be hopeful and doubt on the side of caution that they didnt miss an undersized snout....so in that case a new balancer maybe will be a bit snugger on there? I...

    Balancer slides in on install

Working on a 70s 360, and upon putting it back together, the damper slid right over the snout of the crank by hand. I found this strange, as I did have to use a puller to remove it on tear down, albeit it came off super easy. Its a factory balancer, and it appears to be in good shape in terms of...

A real testament to stock bottom end capabilities

More bearing clearance, an oil cooler, and a couple of horseshoes under the gas pedal. Not sure a fill would help since even though it would add some rigidity, it would also increase oil heat quicker. Regardless, any engine under those conditions would have it somewhat hard, so the junkyard...

    Speedmaster Stainless Rocker Arm Issues

Please don't apologize for the long post, this ends the thread and actually answers the question I was asking instead of talking in circles about how rocker geometry is affected by multiple things lol. This is exactly the information I was looking for, all in one post. I was under the impression...

    Speedmaster Stainless Rocker Arm Issues

My last LA builds used Hughes and T&D rockers and I shimmed them as necessary, so I am well aware that rockers are not just a bolt on and go item. However, I am just wondering how much "shim" per say is needed with these rockers and a dual valvespring setup, as I see it there is a big difference...

    Speedmaster Stainless Rocker Arm Issues

His website won't load on my computer for some reason. Ill try messaging him on here. Also just curious if any others have ran the SM assembled heads and their Stainless rockers and if they had any interference issues and what they did to rectify it

    Speedmaster Stainless Rocker Arm Issues

Thanks, I will check out his profile. Did you see the link I posted, are your PRW rockers the stainless variety as well? Interesting that they clear what I imagine is a dual spring on your TF heads but not the dual spring as setup on the speedmaster heads, atleast according to Youtube. I will...

    Speedmaster Stainless Rocker Arm Issues

Wondering if anyone is running the stainless rocker arms that Speedmaster sells on a Speedmaster, Edelbrock or other stock type replacement head, and if they have any issues with rocker body to spring retainer clearance? Was watching a video on Youtube where someone had setup the stainless...

Speed Pro H116CP pistons drop in with no rebalance?

Crazy late reply here, didn't even get notified about this or maybe I missed it. Budget has been getting tighter due to socialist policies North of the border, so I stuck with all stock pistons. Cam is currently at Oregon waiting in line for a regrind, going from hydraulic to solid.

Speed Pro H116CP pistons drop in with no rebalance?

Nice! Better than the .110" deck clearance I have right now with the dished factory replacements I currently have at .030" over

Speed Pro H116CP pistons drop in with no rebalance?

Thanks for the replies guys! This is supposed to be a budget build, but the car is heavy and a 360 isn't exactly a large motor, so a good bump in compression is helpful!

Speed Pro H116CP pistons drop in with no rebalance?

Hey guys, Playing with the idea of changing out the pistons in my 360 IF I can find a drop in that will work without rebalance. I have done some digging, and would prefer a forged piston if I am changing pistons, but I have only been able to find some info on some of the Mopar boards about...

Question for those who have used Speedmaster assembled heads or valve springs

Funny enough, the specs for the speedmaster Hydraulic ROLLER assembled heads seem to be LIGHTER on valvespring pressure versus their Hydraulic flat tappet stuff which seems odd to me.

Question for those who have used Speedmaster assembled heads or valve springs

Yes, exactly. In my experience, I thought 130-140 on the seat was standard for solid flat tappet stuff

Question for those who have used Speedmaster assembled heads or valve springs

Well this is not something that I am going to be shutting down during idling. Are you just trying to avoid valvetrain wear? Or is it because the pressures of the valvesprings are actually too much for what youre doing? As far as the cam goes, the cam im sending for regrind is an 90s crane...

Question for those who have used Speedmaster assembled heads or valve springs

Wondering if anybody on here has ran these Speedmaster heads Mopar Chrysler SB 318 360 170cc 65cc Hydraulic Flat Assembled Cylinder Heads or these valvesprings they sell (these are the ones loaded on the heads that come assembled in the link above) 1.450" Od. Dual Valve Springs w/Damper -...

Anyone running one of these Oregon cam grinds?

I do, but the engine plans have changed a bit from then. I was just curious what characteristics people noticed with these specific cams in their combos if they are running them. As for what people think of the cam for my combo, I was leaving that to the experts who grind the cams lol That...

Anyone running one of these Oregon cam grinds?

I think most everyone that responded here missed the point, which I thought was pretty clear... Looks like no one has or is...

Anyone running one of these Oregon cam grinds?

After finding out that a custom solid ft cam from howards probably wont be ready until June or July at the earliest, I contacted Oregon cam about regrinding the super mild crane cam that was in my 360. Gave them my info, and Ken suggested these 2 grinds #1920 230/236 @ .050”, 264/270 adv...
