    Classic Industries dash bezel issues

You're right about the "very slow". I usually drive down and pick up parts from them because their shipping is so expensive. I called them a couple of weeks ago and was told they were not yet allowing any "Will Call". I called again yesterday and was told "Will Call" is now OK but you have to...

    Solid motor mounts?

I had a friend build me some solid motor mounts for my 340 Swinger back in the early '70s. I never had any objectionable vibration. Of course, the engine was internally balanced by an extremely reputable machine shop. Oh yeah, and I ran a rubber trans mount for the 727 back then and never...

    383 or 400 ?

Great article on building a 400 into a 451 - and why: Mopar 451. The motor that SHOULD be... The 451 is arguably the best BB Mopar engine combination available. The 451, which is made by dropping a 440 crank into a 400 block, has almost perfect design parameters. Deck Height: The 400...

    400 Build vs 440 Build

I haven't had either a 400 or 440, but I would go with the 400 simply because of the larger bore - gives more piston surface area. The other benefits of a slightly more compact build and few pounds lighter make it even better.

    Looking for wiring kit

Don't forget to check friends and neighbors for possible wiring kits they have that may not get used. I just got a screaming deal on a complete Painless PN 10127 Mopar kit from a friend. The brand new kit was in a '67 Barracuda project he just bought and he decided he'd rather modify the...

Anyone just make a solid mount for a 360-400???

Years ago I had a friend with a machine shop make a pair some for me. Solid blocks of steel, drill through & tap for studs in the same locations as the stock rubber mounts, thread in the studs and weld them in place from the backside of each stud. Simple enough and worked great.

383 in 68 Dodge Dart? new build

Just for comparison, my '69 340 Swinger ran 14.28 @ 98+MPH with an open (no SureGrip) 3.23 geared rearend at OCIR in 1970 running G/Pure Stock class. One thing no one has mentioned yet is the impact the extra big block weight on the front end will have on handling. Maybe just me, but I much...

    intake ?

You can always put a spacer between the intake and the carb to increase the height. Just make sure you know what effect the increased plenum volume is going to have on your engine combo - may be either negative or positive depending on your combination and what style spacer your use. There's a...

408 stroker vs. 500 stroker Challenge fun!!

Small block stroker would be my choice for the best all-round street/strip handler due to less weight on the front end. Sorry, don't have a specific build recipe for you within your $5K budget but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread since I'm in "build mode" as well.

Hey Scamp, those old-style Eddy covers are the ones currently being sold by Summit for about $239/pair.

    Cal Custom valve covers

Saw some similar design valve covers with the 'Edelbrock' logo on the Summit website for about $239/pair. Sure glad I kept my original SB Cal Custom valve covers from years ago. I like the 'old school' look and thinking of using them on my 360 magnum crate motor. Maybe switch off with the...
