Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

In July of 1969, the #88 Engineering Daytona routinely ran laps over 200 at the Chelsea Proving Grounds with Baker and Glotzbach each driving. Perhaps it was smoother than Talladega? They had no issues with the Goodyear tires. One of the other issues not mentioned in that article is that...

Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

Actually, they did. The vintage video is proof. It was going almost 203 into Turn 3. On the Salt Flats in 1971 Isaac ran 217 on Goodyears. Video proof of that too.

I wouldn't trust just 2 bolts holding down my carb. You are asking for a vacuum leak!

    Heat riser/ choke question

As stated above... On a cold start in cold weather, the gas will condense in the intake and puddle up. And yes, some gets into the cylinders, washing the oil off the walls. This is the very reason of a choke! You need SOME gas in a vapor state to run the engine! Chrysler had the 5-50 warranty...

I'll hear your TQ, and raise you a Dominator! Incidentally, is the small TQ primary 1 3/8" diameter? I think I have a couple 1971 340 carbs sitting around.

Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

The guy has 3 different year model years NOS Carter 2 barrels to choose from. I believe mid 60s, a 69 automatic and an early 70s. To me, a good choice would be a 4 bbl. intake, like you mentioned, with one of those aluminum Holley model 4360, 450 cfm carbs. Anyone have an idea what list...

Here's a stock intake - note the 4 carb mounting holes. Why are the Edelbrock holes offset?

Do you remember what brand the 2v was on it? That's a weird bolt pattern for a carb on the photo posted above.

Not a good story... =( My buddy and I got 10 mpg in his 454 dually, pulling a trailer full of parts and the 8' bed had 23 8 3/4 gears in it. (most with Detroit Lockers) His is all stock with a 4.10

Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

Nice! But, what carb fits it? Not a regular, old, Carter, like on an early 70s 318!

Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

Guess it was the Rochester carb! Joking aside, first time I heard of a loss in MPGs. Bet you were a little pi$$ed off, having spent a few bucks...

They are built for bottom end torque & mileage. I think the word "performance" usually is associated with higher RPMs. So, I'd say you are 100% correct.

Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 2V Does it even exist??

2v to 4V adapter would be his second choice on a 4bbl. intake. Yes, a 2.76 geared truck. A stump puller. He found an NOS 1969 Carter 2 barrel carb already. I know they made a 2V for the small block chevy. They appear on ebay now and then. Thanks for the reply.

Got a friend looking for the 2 barrel version of the Edelbrock S.P.-2P. 318 intake, which I have only seen in the 4 barrel version. He may be wasting his time. Anyone ever see one?
