    crossover or x-pipe

I've always been told H pipe for torque and X pipe for hp. I believe that H pipes help with bottom end torque quite a bit. Every dual exhaust system I've ever had built car or truck gets an H pipe as close to the engine as possible. Not to mention I love the way exhaust sounds with an H pipe, a...

    5.9L Magnum Exhaust Q's

Run hedders with 1 5/8 primary tube into true duals 2 1/4 pipe. I have a crate 360 magnum in my 1991 dodge power ram and I run hedman hedders 1 5/8 primary tubes into dual 2 1/4 inch pipe with an H pipe right before the mufflers. And for mufflers I m running flo-tech glass packs that have a 3...

glass pack and and muscle car sound

glasspacks that dont kneck down in the middle cant be anymore restrictive then a chambered muffler. I have 18 inch flo-pro glass packs that didnt have any inlets or outlets and they are 3 inch diameter inside, the exhaust guy welded on the inlets and outlets to fit my 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe. I...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

i have always read that H pipes help with scavenging exhaust gases out of the engine wich in turn helps produce low end torque? the way i have always heard it was H pipe for better low rpm torque and X pipe for more high rpm horse power and torque? I wanted to get an X pipe but the guy told me...

I seen inside the glass packs that got put on mine and they...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

the length of the glass packs is 18 inches and the diameter inside is 3 inch so the outside i'd guess is 4.5 or 5 inch? I like the glass pack sound lot better then flomasters and other chambered mufflers as well, i will get some pictures taken and put them up here so you guys see, the glass...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

I went with 2 1/4 inch pipe and i got some glasspacks that werent necked down inside, the glasspacks i got have a 3 inch core diameter and they welded the inlet and outlets on that i needed, so i dont think a 3 inch core diameter glasspack will be restrictive... Sounds good, oh and i went with...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

well i'm kinda in a hurry for exhaust because all iv'e got is open hedders right now.... What would be wrong with going straight piped? 2 1/4 inch pipe straight piped with an X pipe. Then there wouldnt be any muffler restriction at all. correct? Maybe this muffler shop has better glass packs...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

how restrictive could a 12 or 18 inch glass pack be? even if it is 2 inch inside the glass pack, its not 2 inch for very long a ft to a ft and a half in the exhaust path. I'm thinking i could just have them put 12 or 18 inch glass packs on it for now and later on down the road i can get...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

ya i have heard that about the X pipes, but i have seen and heard of huge gains that you wouldnt think possible just from adding one, so i'm thinking i might just have to live with it, because if an x pipe can really add 10 to 15 more horse power or ft lbs of torque then i would deffanatly run...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

would it be a bad idea to just run straigh 2 1/4 inch pipe into an X pipe then just run straight 2 1/4 inch pipe the rest of the way out? There wouldnt be any muffler of any kind to be restrictive and hurt the exhaust flow, and the X pipe should help control the noise, right? i mean how loud do...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

To me flowmasters have that raspy hollow tone to them and i dont care for that at all, i will ask the shop if they have any glass packs that are necked down to 2 inch inside, and if they dont i guess i will run straight pipe or buy some flowmasters. I think i will try the X pipe this go around...

Need help choosing X or H pipe

i guess i could bite the bullet and buy some 40 series flowmasters, i just have never really cared for the way they sound, the only engine i have heard that sounded good with flowmasters to me was a 428 big block ford that had some super 44's, other then that i have never really cared for them

Need help choosing X or H pipe

oh and i forgot to add, an 18 inch glass pack isnt very big at all, its accually quite small for a muffler, i could go down to a 12 inch glass pack and i'm sure a 12 inch glass pack wouldnt be restictive at all, ive just always liked staying with the 18's because they reduce the noise a little...

I dont want any other muffler, i hate the way flowmasters sound and i have heard some dynomax mufflers on the magnums and didnt care for that sound ether. 2 inch pipe vs 2 1/4 inch pipe

I wasnt trying to argue with anybody just pointing out that this is a subject with alot of different opinions as to what size of exhaust pipe to run, and i must not have read the title correctly i thought it was refering to exhaust pipe size not header tube diameter, thats my bad there. I dont...

2 inch pipe vs 2 1/4 inch pipe

Anyways here is the exhaust pipe size chart that i looked at that says a 360 engine putting out max torque at 4750 is fine with 2 inch diameter exhaust pipe. http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/header-tech-c.htm

2 inch pipe vs 2 1/4 inch pipe

ya i guess i can put that 300 bucks in the engine or drive train, with 375 bucks i can get a bad A$$ built valve body for my transmission from crt. I'm not a whole lot worried just saying i always run 2 1/4 inch pipe on all my small block mopar's and 2 1/2 on big blocks, i have no expierence...

2 inch pipe vs 2 1/4 inch pipe

i judt read something on exhaust and exhaust pipe size and it said you want to decide on the diameter of the exhaust pipe size based on what rpm your max torque output is at and engine size. it had a chart with small block and big block dodge engines. I went to the 360 on there chart and it said...
