I had the same problem on a conversion i did and the pads got better after use but were still tight,i changed to a different brand of pads and they worked like they should,you will have a slight drag but not to where you need a lot of pressure to turn the wheel. wayne

I'm changing the front 9" brakes on my 66 valiant to 10" drums, do i need anything other than the spindles ,drums and backing plates? i will be using new wheel cylinders and spring set, i will be changing to new ball joints ,do i use ball joints for 10" same year? wg.
