    Rebuilding heater box, replace core?

I went through hell with mine. My original one was not leaking, but since I was rebuilding my heater box - AC too - I attempted TWO different aftermarket versions (one number started with "CR") and ended up getting mine tested at a rad shop and put her back in! If those tubes are off from where...

Did you ever remove your A/C?

Yeah, I removed the AC in my 75 Scamp shortly after purchasing it - wasn't blowing cold air. I REGRET that move! I kept everything, and have been seriously considering re-installing the setup. Of course I'll have to replace a lot of the original components and don't even know where to start.

Driving a long distance in hot weather without AC?!

I drove the Fusion and enjoyed the ride. My girlfriend and I made the promise to drive the Scamp out next year. Some good suggestions here. Remember, a '75 does not have vent windows. I enjoy using those in my Road Runner, but no dice in the Scamp. OK - you can resume busting my balls.....

Driving a long distance in hot weather without AC?!

LOL. I can drive 30-45 min in the heat without AC, but after an hour or more, the wind is too much with all the windows down. You can't even talk to a passenger that easily. One thought - If everybody left there car at home, there would be no Carlisle or Nationals..... I know Roadcuda on here...

Driving a long distance in hot weather without AC?!

I am considering driving my Scamp out to Carlisle this year - for the first time. BUT, I don't have Air Conditioning and hate the heat. Are any of you driving an old Mopar to Carlisle this year and can you offer any thoughts? I know, some of you will think I'm a wimp - but I REALLY hate driving...

First solo job on my car didn't go so well .... Aaarrrrggghhhh!

Sherry, You should be proud of yourself! Good job! As with any repairs or mechanical work done for the first time, take your time, take breaks, and don't be afraid. You may have already said you have one, but the factory service manual is a must when working on older cars. Keep up the good work!

    Nightmare Radiator Change

Yep, isn't that the truth!!! I'm the type of guy that ALWAYS underestimates the amount of time it will take to get a job done.....I say to myself, "yeah, that should only take me about an hour" then three hours later.....I'm still at it. I'm 44, and over the years I've gotten better at just...

Should I have an overflow bottle?

Exactly. Tony, you can purchase an inexpensive "catch can" or overflow from Summit. They have a valve at the bottom that you can open to drain out the water/coolant that flowed into it. Like this one.... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1478/

    water valve purpose?

Thanks guys for the quick responses! So on my 68 RR, that temp control on the dash only operates a door to let the heat from the heater core enter the fan area and give me heat. There is always heat going to it, right?

    water valve purpose?

Ok fellas, on my 1975 Slant six Scamp, I removed all the AC system parts under the hood but..... There is a "water valve" mounted on the right inner fender which the 1/2" heater hose runs to and another 1/2" hose on the other end goes to the heater core. Do I still need this valve? Can I just...

How do I delete my AC?

I too am in the process of removing my AC from my '75 Scamp with a slant 6. I am leary of removing the compressor since THREE water pump bolts would need to be removed. I think I will wait til I buy another water pump. It seems like I will start a leak - Ugh!

    AC not working

Ok fellas, so as some of you know, I bought a '75 Scamp a little while ago. It has AC, but it is not working. While I save $$$ for the 383/727/8.75 swap, my plan is to cruise this for a year or so. Eventually, I will deep six the AC, but until then........I would love to convert this to 134a...
