The Saga of the 73 Duster Continues

So the saga continues. In previous posts i described that i replaced the 318's manifold and carb with a LD4B and a new Holley 600, throttle linkage, kick down linkage along with the distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, ignition module and voltage regulator, ballast etc. It still didnt run...

New Holley 600 and manifold installed

Strange, i couldnt edit my post. So i got the Lokar throttle and trans kickdown linkage installed, i drove it and it fell on its face, i turned the idle screws out a turn and a half, and timed it at 7 before and drove it again, it was way better but still had some bog and stumbed when starting...

So i installed a LD4B and a 600 Holley on the 73 Duster 318, but wondering what kind of throttle cable and trans linkage i need to have it work correctly, it runs good, no oil or vacume or water leaks.

just cant get the car to run right

There was a time it ran right with the old distributor and carb. I got it and drove it a total of about 30 miles or so, then one day in a paking lot after It had driven fine, it started spitting and puking gas out of every carb orriface. It had some crap feedback carb on it, so I came upon a...

just cant get the car to run right

I think someone didnt put the engine back together correctly, its timed at 10-12 degrees BTDC. The short time that it was running good it seemed to run fine, so i put it back there when i put the new distributor in.

just cant get the car to run right

Oh gotcha, that explains the other post where someone said that it could have a small hole burned in it. Didnt know about the jet things. That may explain why you can see some blow by coming out the choke stove/exhaust crossover sometimes when you rev the motor. I will have to look in there...

just cant get the car to run right

Checked my booster still holds vacuum, checked the intake bolts, they are tight, i replaced the distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, i sent the carb i got back, and RA is sending another, so i put the old carb back on. I has no EGR at all, Here are some pics of the engine, in all its dirtyness

just cant get the car to run right

No EGR on it, vacuum advance is attached to the left hand(standing in front of the motor)vaccum port on the carb. It runs at idle, but you cant drive it. Not sure what you mean by the knock switches on the firewall. A friend has a auminum 4 bbl with a 750 for a small block mopar so i may just...

Mixture Adjust on a Carter 4608S

Hey guys, the black 73 318 Duster i bought a few weeks ago, decided to have a attitude and start running like garbage the other day. Having a feedback carb on it didnt help matters, dont know why it was on there, and having a loose distributer hold down didnt help either. Got it timed...

    Correct 2 bbl carb for a 318

Hey Guys, my black 73 Duster started running like monkey poop yesterday. I was told it has a 82 Dodge truck 318 in it, and evidently the carb from it too. Its a Carter 8385S, a non adjustable feedback carb. How smart is that? With no feedback to allow it to work correcty. It starts to...

Carb Guru's Questions about rebuild and tuning

I was having a runnability issue with the 41 Chrysler and saw that it didnt have a fuel filter on it, and thought that may have been its issue, it wasnt. Anyway, i got a filter and rebuilt the carb. It wasnt really having any issue, but it was cruddy inside from sitting 5 yrs. Its a...

    Fuel Tank Removal

Before I remove it to fix a pesky leak from the sending unit seal. Can anyone tell me how the filler pipe is inserted into the tank? Is there just a gasket it goes through, or is it held in by bolts or screws?

    Holly 1920 Rebuild

So, I rebuilt my Carb this weekend. Holly 1920 on a /6. Before the idle was shuddery and it smelled really rich. The mixture screw didnt really seem to do much, except not let it idle when you seemingly had it adjusted correctly. After i rebuilt it, the car runs a heckof a lot better...

    Fuel Tank

Yeah i hate those locking ring gaskets. I had to mess with my Satellite tank a few times before it quit leaking. Now i gotta run in outn of gas before i check it, cause i am to lazy to siphon it out, lol. On My satellite i finally got it sealed by putting some vaseline on the two sides of...

    Fuel Tank

Well, I finally picked up my Scamp, after towing it home cause it had no brakes, but thats another story. I went to the gas station this morning before work and put 5 gallons in it only, luckily. turns out the tank is leaking. Does anyone know if it just has a gasket and the 3/4 turn...
