    2.76 vs 2.94 gearing

The difference? Slightly less acceleration and slightly more mileage. That’s it. If you cruise the car, you’ll like the 2.76 better. I had that ratio, the 2.76, in my ‘79 Magnum w/a 360/904 on 26” tires and I was able to get up to 20 mpg’s. No headers, dual exhaust off of the exhaust manifolds...

    Converter- 67 273/904

In my wife’s ‘67 Cúda, the 904 has the earlier lower count spline. I can’t remember right now what it was. A new converter with the earlier lower spline count isn’t possible. I looked around a lot. What I did do was go to my local race converter builder ( ProTorque | High Performance Drag...

    Shift improver kits

Yes, indeed so, I agree. The MP shift improved kit is something I have used in the past. A cheap and easy modification that can be knocked out pretty quickly is an OK mod that won’t be an annoyance while driving around and provides a firmer shift. It is not a shift kit that hammer slams the...

    Olds/Pontiac 9.3 in an A-Body?

It could be an expensive route. A guess a lot depends on the condition of said unit and then weigh the cost of modifying. Honestly a great way to go is an all new Moser rear end. Google Moser and check out what they have to offer.

    3:55 gears on the street

First: I asked the question legitimately. I’m actually wanted to know why. Second, what was written first in the parentheses. “((You ask like you think I'm stupid or something.)” Ahhhhhhhh, that answer is a “NO!”

    Olds/Pontiac 9.3 in an A-Body?

That was the rear end of choice back in the day. I remember the older (grampa kind of fellas) when I was young tell me that’s what they used. At 9.3, that’s big and no wonder why they said they were strong rear ends.

How strong is an a-body 8.25 and can you make it stronger?

What? I don’t agree? Oh for fucks sake… I had to go back and re read the whole ******* thread again. Whatever ridiculous torque is, I’d just do a DANA 60 and have a good day. I’ve had 8-1/4 live with over 400 ft/lbs for years. Certainly not a ridiculous amount of torque. After than, hell if I...

Dodge Camper Van w/318- switching 3-Speed to Overdrive transmission?

Good to know! Of the above, I didn’t notice a mileage increase with the synthetic gear oil. That is not to say it was there. It’s more likely to be proven under a test setting rather than various driving conditions ranging from rush hour traffic to the mountain hills and the flats of Florida...

Dodge Camper Van w/318- switching 3-Speed to Overdrive transmission?

@JDMopar - Why would he need a HD torque converter and even more so, a front pump when the transmission mentioned is in an as heavy if not heavy vehicle designed for heavier loads and towing capacity? Seems like a waste of money to upgrade something that does t need it. If the transmission...

Dodge Camper Van w/318- switching 3-Speed to Overdrive transmission?

The Chrysler OD automatic transmission is a little longer & bulky at the tail shaft. The support fins or struts can be ground off or some hammer use on the sheet metal will be needed to clear an install. The driveshaft will need to be shortened so a tape measure will be needed and measured to...

    Gear Ratio Recommendation

    Absolutely! The MoPar OD transmissions have a deeper first gear vs the standard 3spd’s. This can make that 3.91 feel a good bit steeper. 2.45 X 3.91 = 9.57 3.09 X 3.91 = 12.80 A 3.23 difference. 3.91 + 3.23 = Holy S#%€£¥€%% Batman! Seriously speaking…… 3.55’s with the MP deep first...
