    AC system update

I adapted the factory ‘69 A/C vent box to my Classic Auto air system. It wasn’t too difficult. Just had to cut the hose ends off the supplied ducts and manufacture an aluminum plate with 3 oval holes to bolt the supplied duct hose ends to then to the factory A/C vents after they were removed...

With regard to the cover plate that seals the tubes through the firewall, I didn't drill any holes into the firewall to secure that plate. Instead I installed threaded rivets into the existing holes in the firewall then drilled holes in the plastic cover to match the location of the threaded...

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

I ran my A/C yesterday and checked the flow on the necked down drivers side vent and it still flows pretty good. Not as hard as the center ducts but still a pretty good flow of air. I also secured that drivers side duct to the dash with Velcro so on the days the A/C is not needed and I just...

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

I used 2 soda pop plastic bottle tops to neck the duct down to around 1” diameter tube then ran it over the steering column then used the second bottle top back up to the standard duct diameter. I used VW Beetle aluminum tube used for the oil breather.

Yes. The output air temp starts to climb slowly. The cooling air would fully return after about 30 minutes of system shutdown.

I’m really interested in hearing if your evaporator freezes up after about an hour of continuous use like mine does.

    Recreating MP Viscous Fan Kit

Hayden makes all sorts of Fan clutches and on their website they have a great guide to all the specs of the clutches they offer. I found a heavy duty 70’s Cadillac application that was bolt in and positioned the fan perfectly half way in the shroud on my ‘69 Dart 340. Here’s some more info...

    OER RADIATOR

I don't think so. As the transmission fluid that is trapped inside the cooler it will expand with the coolant heat and will create hydraulic force on the cooler, then it will create a vacuum force when cooled off. I would buy brass plugs and drill very small holes (like around .030") in them...

    OER RADIATOR

If you do buy the automatic transmission radiator, don’t cap the cooler ports air tight as the cooler will collapse due to lack of venting. This happened to me. Collapsed Transmission Cooler In Rad

That’s a great idea. I would also use some dum dum sealant on top of the rubber to seal it all up to the plate and give it a factory look.

    Original Radiators

This sounds a lot like Don at EDJ radiator. I had him install a high efficiency core in my factory ‘69 Dart radiator core a few years ago. He did an incredible job. I highly recommend him. Don’s sister and brother-in-law are my neighbours in Georgetown.

Recommend an AC system for my 68 Barracuda

I bought the kit in late 2016 and installed it in the summer of 2017. My kit came with a “Sanden Style” compressor. No problems with it so far… One thing I did notice with the system is that after constant operation of over one and a half hours or so, I notice the vent output air temperature...

Recommend an AC system for my 68 Barracuda

I was just posting some of the issues I had with the Classic Kit and I saw that you had ordered a kit. One of the hoses to the compressor was manufactured too short. There was no way it would reach the compressor with the ports upright. They suggested I turn the compressor on it’s side so the...

Recommend an AC system for my 68 Barracuda

When I spoke to the Classic Air tech rep back in 2016 he said they stopped using the genuine Sanden in favour of the Sanden copy due to 4 years of more warranty. (I’m pretty certain it was cheaper for them to buy too).

Recommend an AC system for my 68 Barracuda

The kit I bought in 2016 did not come with a Sanden compressor. When I questioned Classic Auto Air about it they said the “Sanden Style” compressor supplied with the Perfect Fit system had a 5 warranty and the genuine Sanden compressors that they used to supply only had a one year warranty. I...

    Non-ac car needs air conditioning

The Classic Auto Air kit fit pretty well but it also has some limitations. I find after over 1.5 hours of constant operation the vent temperature starts to slowly climb indicating to me the evaporator is starting to freeze up. It does blow pretty cold though, for the first hour or so.
