    replacing upper control arm

Hampton, I bought those UCA's and the ball joint popped out on the highway. Luckily, I didn't lose control and kill myself and my daughter. They are cheap metal with cheap ball joints. If you plan on upgrading to disc brakes in the future and have an ealier A with the smaller ball joints this...

Upper Control Arm Offset Bushings Gap Question

Hi Judge, I took a couple pics of one I had fall apart so you can see the end caps. The caps have a smaller inner diameter to snug the bolt. Without it, there would be wiggle.

upper control arms w/o ball joint?

I was in your same position a year or so ago. I had some New PST BJ's and my UCA's threading was toast. Here's what I did so you know what NOT to do: I bought the new OE Style Re-pops off of Ebay, took those BJ's out, and put my new ones in. Even though they torqued down, the cheap metal gave...

Looks like my upper control arm took a crap.

I had mine do this while on the highway, except mine was a new production one from Ebay. So yeah, avoid those.

Tubular upper a-arms - Should I be worried?

I tried to cut every corner and save some scratch with my UCA's. After lot's of wasted time and almost wrecking on the freeway I bought the Firm Feel UCA's and wish I did it from the start. They are built like a tank, powder coated, and include the ball joints for $400.

    JB Weld Ball Joints?

Thanks Bud. I got those Firm Feel UCA's a while back after my requests for a welder was shot down by the Mrs.. Everything has been fine so far. A big expensive lesson learned: No more foreign parts, and no more craigslist fabricators.

    New Upper Control Arms

By Short Term I meant: would install and work but probably fail shortly after like mine did. The Balljoints and bushing that come in those WSD's are super cheap and the balljoints are pressed in ruining the threads. They advertise them with MOOG numbers but they are not Moog Parts. So yeah...

Firm Feel UCA's Small Ball Joint pics and review.

Yeah, when quickly turning the front would dip down on the opposite wheel a little too much. It still does, just much "firmer" and tighter. I imagine after I get some better shocks (Napa Cheapos on right now) it will get even better.

Firm Feel UCA's Small Ball Joint pics and review.

Hi All Just wanted to post some pics and thoughts about the Firm Feel UCA's in case anyone else was looking for them on FABO. I Ordered them on a Friday and received them the next Thursday. I ordered by phone and got an email confirmation and tracking number within a few hours. They came packed...

    New Upper Control Arms

FJR, I bought the WSD control arms for my 66 Barracuda. I had already purchased the PST poly-graphite kit so just wanted the arms because mine were very rusted. They came with some very cheap bushings and balljoints. The arms were very light and cheap feeling. One of the bushings popped apart...

    1966 Barracuda spindle advice

Hello, I had my UCA's ripped off by a scammer/welder and am going to order some new ones tomorrow. I'm on the fence about going to the bigger balljoint/spindle setup for a couple of reasons: 1. I just renewed my entire stock brake system (Drums) and everything is working great. Will the...

    JB Weld Ball Joints?

Well, after a week with no contact from the "welder" looks like i'm out another $60 and a control arm. I'm debating buying FirmFeel's Tubulars, something I'm kicking myself for not doing 6 months ago. I need to stop cutting corners and just cough up the $$$ for the good stuff. Having a "Daily...

    JB Weld Ball Joints?

Especially when the manufacturer pressed in the cheapo ball joints it shipped with. These went in easier than expected but still torqued snug to about 90 lbs. in hindsight I wish I would have gotten the PST tubulars but they required new spindles and $375. plus the $275 I already payed for...

    JB Weld Ball Joints?

On the highway today my left upper ball joint popped out of the control arm. When I installed them a few months ago they screwed in a little too easily so I wasn't that surprised when it happened. I was thinking about cleaning, sanding, and scoring the UCA's and Upper Ball joints then putting...

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

After a little grinding on the upper lip of the control arms the rub is gone and the shop re-aligned it for free. My Cragar 15's sit within millimeters of the new control arms so taking off just 1/32" of extra lip solved the problem of the awful grinding. The new bushings and ball joints make a...

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

So I bought those new arms, installed the PST balljoints and bushings into them, and finally-after months of working an hour here and there-was able to get the car towed to the alignment shop. They did the alignment and as I pulled out of the shop parking lot I get this wretched grinding from...

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

So a Moog Upper Ball Joint k704 costs $49 on Amazon and a Moog bushing kit costs $26. $49x2 + $26=$124 For someone like me with a seriously rusted out suspension, a nagging wife, and limited time to wrench $5 is a no-brainer.

it says "PART NAME : CONTROL ARM PAIR With Ball Joint K704 Bushing K408" too so i'm beginning to wonder which it is. And the photo has two also so maybe it means $129 a set since there are 2 in stock. I emailed them: Yes, These Ref fit for 1966 Barracuda, we have the items in stock right now...

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

I have the same tool, and it worked like a charm on one side of the arm. The side with the sleeve almost broke all the threads on the tool when i used an impact gun on it. I am pretty sure the suspension has never been replaced by previous owners.

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

Man, if I knew this a few weeks back before i bought the whole pst kit i would have been all over it. I'll be sure to pass this along to the next person I see before they go through this whole, (and more expensive) process.
