Making a car difficult to steal

How To Make a Car Difficult to Steal: 1. Drive a Mopar with pushbutton automatic. They might get it started, but odds are they won't get it into gear. 2. Be Biff Tannen. Only he knows how to start his '46 Dodge.

70 dart turn signal cam question, what the heck?

'70 turn signal switches are one-year-only, and they're not available as aftermarket parts. The '71-up switch works in a '70 car, but has a differently-shaped hazard flasher knob. If you're talking about a smaller cam on your old switch, that sounds more like a '69-down switch. Oldkimmer's got...

Does anyone like 4 door A body mopes?

If the emblems are missing, check the VIN's first two characters. LL= Dart ("Dart 170" through '69) ; LH= Dart Custom ("Dart 270" through '69). Works the same with Valiants; VL= low trim line, VH= high trim line. There was also a "P" for premium, originally applied to the Dart GT and Valiant...

    Duster Rear-Defroster/Defogger?

I never got around to it, but I thought about a DIY grid-type defogger that would be more like the factory type than the aftermarket stick-on types. I'd mask the interior of the glass (inside-up on a suitable workbench), draw the lines and bus bars on the mask and cut them out very carefully to...

Your favorite rear end/final drive ratio and why?

Whatever which one puts the middle of the engine's torque peak in the middle of the speeds I intend to drive, given my tire size, nudged this way or that way depending on what kind of transmission, whjether I anticipate having a lot of hills to climb, whether I'll be spending more time in...

    Rookie Mistake...

Also: Also: Also: Listen to the guy who knows and do as he says. Your car's not going to get done. It's not going to get started or finished. It's not going to get worked on any more now than it has been in the past. More parts are going to go missing. Listen to his ex-partner and go get...

69 Dodge Dart in Illinois on eBay right now very cheap has aluminum slant 6 in it from 64 Valiant

Roughly 50,000 aluminum-block 225s were factory-installed in cars from the Middle of the '61 model year to early in the '63 model year. They all had iron heads. Somebody must have gone to some effort on this swap, putting in a '66-'67 transmission or having a custom torque converter made to...

    Another Crappy Chinese “Restoration” Part

Donno. I'd probably take it to a good, reputable plating shop and ask their opinion on that question. Could be just the plating is crummy, or could be there's something about the casting (impurities/voids in the metal?) which would make even good plating go bad in a hurry.

    A-body K Members

No. The Feather Duster and Dart Lite had an aluminum 1-barrel intake. Yes. No. The 2bbl setup used in Australia, South Africa, and other countries used an intake different than the US "Super Six" item shown here. Your one carburetor, shown rightside-up, appears to be a '66-'69 273 or 318...

Some people just shouldn't own a mopar

In terms of the original vid in this thread: I won't sit in judgement of whether that guy should or shouldn't own a Mopar… …but that guy should definitely own a new choke thermostat, a couple of wrenches, and a factory service manual.

66 Valiant Turn Signal Flasher location

While you're at it, for an easy safety gain put in this new-type turn signal flasher (2-prong like original; connect its ground wire conveniently). These have much lower internal resistance than the original type, for brighter turn signals. Louder click, too.

    Amber Waves of Pain

Front turn signals invisible because too close to headlamps has been a problem for a long time. The minimum intensity requirement is 2.5× higher for turn signals within 4 inches of a low beam (or fog lamp, or DRL) than it is for further-away turn signals, but obviously this doesn't address the...
