    1966 Dart Factory AC Fittings

It's not pipe thread, no. Those are "Tube-O" fittings into and out of the evaporator—the factory setup first available in '65 did not use flare fittings, or at least not many of them, versus the knee-knocker add-on units (including Chrysler's own Cool Comfort and Airtemp-branded units) which...

    1961 Valiant Wagon

I agree! Even if I think that '61-only optional grille guard thing they offered was kinda…like…"whut?".

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Or stated another way: even the most expensive headlamps you can install on an A-body are orders of magnitude cheaper than a crash. Body parts for cars are expensive; body parts for people even more so.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Even if you must have LEDs, you don't need to spend anywhere near $700+ to have worthy headlamps. Here's a good one, and here's another good one—for less than half of $700/pair.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Yes. Most of it is not released for publishing (and I like to buy groceries and stuff, so it's best if I don't lose my job by violating confidence), so I do my best to summarise it helpfully when questions like this come up.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

The relevant technical standard (Federal/Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108) allows an enormous range of intensity at all of the controlled points and zones within the beam. The law doesn't require good headlamps, just legal ones, and a pathetic $6 sealed beam sloppily made on cruddy...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

That makes…um…all of us, is my best guess. Bless your heart! I'm not, actually. Never was, on this subject or thread. I'm not sure what's driving you to keep kicking at this, but…have fun.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

…said the man who decided to pick at a comment made in a calm tone without any exclamation-points or all-caps shouting… …a month ago. I'm not saying, I'm just saying, is all.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

That (still) isn't even a little bit true. It (still) won't be true tomorrow. It (still) won't be true next week…or next month…or next year.

    1963 Signet 200 Convertible

Ooer, that looks like a honey of a Valiant! Something looks unusual about the headlamps—nonstock trim rings and probably nonstock lamps—but I can't tell details from this photo. Cat whiskers and suchlike: see here. General upgrades, see here. Carburetors: no longer as easy as they used to...

    69 Notch Barracuda - Rebirth

Glad you like the switch! I got in this to have/provide an alternative to the poor-quality Chinese dreck; always nice to hear that's how it worked out. I don't agree that it's necessary to drop the column though; you can save yourself the trouble with a piece of string.

1963 Dodge Dart 270 Convertible for the Wife

If you want to know more about this engine, find and report the stamped figures (numbers and letters) at the top of the block, facing the sky, below the № 1 (front) spark plug, just inboard of the coil and alternator lower bracket. There might be grease to scrape away to find the stamping. Be...

    Deathtrap, My 74 Plymouth Scamp

They might look good, but they're not headlamps. They're headlite-shaped trinkets from China. You don't have to pick either/or; there are headlamps that look sweet and work great. They cost more than the trinkets, but less than a crash resulting from using the trinkets. See here.

'68-'73 kit will do fine. This carb would not be on my short list of viable candidates for a long-term good runner, but build it for the experience.

    72 Duster Resurrection

Your temp gauge is about to cook to death. Your fuel gauge may very well already have been cooked to death. If the instrument cluster voltage regulator (plugged onto the back of the instrument cluster -- not the same as the voltage regulator in the engine bay) has failed with its points stuck...

    72 Duster Resurrection

I don't mind a bit! I'm actually a little ashamed of that diagram—I made it at least two decades ago in something like MacPaint. It conveys the idea okeh, but it was meant as a placeholder until I would take the time to make a nicer one, and I guess I still haven't. :-\

It's best to run 'em to the battery + terminal. You can put the factory wire back on or not; it won't make any practical difference.

SHENANIGANS! The car is more authentic with two small oil drips and one anti-freeze drip than it would be without those.

Nice car. Someone has installed an internal-regulator GM (Delco) alternator; I wonder what bracket modifications were made to accommodate it, because it looks like it fits neatly.

Sounds like a nice meal. I almost got to meet Gary Goers in a similar fashion in 2011, but the driving route didn't work out. Wonder who bought out Al. He was a straight shooter with a good inventory of reasonably-priced parts.

But something alarming has happened. If you go to their website, you'll see "We no longer sell any NOS parts". Any idea what happened? Someone come along and buy 'em out or something?
