    Interior Panels - Loose Covers

Looks like it needs pulled more towards the lower rear corner. Once you have it pulled tight enough for the wrinkles to level out staple it right thru the panel at the rear edge to hold it in place. Flip it over and bend the staples over flat. They won't be seen behind the seat. Heat will...

Bob if your not concerned about duplicating original construction the burlap can be replaced with any non stretchable fabric. An old canvas tarp is a good chioce if you have one laying around. It will keep the foam from being pushed thru the springs. Use hogring fasteners to attach where it...

Electric knife does work great but they burn up fast. I got tired of buying them at thrift shops. The 50s-70s Hamilton Beach seem to last the longest but still short lived. You will never wear out a hacksaw blade cutting foam been using the same one for decades. Helps to clean the glue off...

You should look for some high density foam while on your search particularly if you weigh close to 200 lbs or more. Other than that foam is foam. Just carve it into the correct shape since it won't be a moulded part. A serrated knife or hack saw blade makes easy work of the shaping process.

    Retrofitting bucket seat back locks

Probably easiest to get newer seat frames but I suppose you could fabricate the locks from most any bucket seat into your frames. I kinda like not having the locks myself. Just one of those little things not to be bothered with when you go to fold a seat forward. Only takes one hand. I like...

    Seat Foam

Do a search for upholstery supplies. Activefoam or DLT also known sometimes as lite products will sell to the general public without being registered as a business or needing a tax #. There are others but some won't sell unless you have a business.

    Seat Foam

Hope this info helps some of you guys that wish to build a better seat for your A body's. I don't generally go into this amount of typing on a topic but thought some could put it to use. It's not always easy to see how and why things are built as they are, particularly when rebuilding your...

    Seat Foam

Most of our cars don't get the kind of use they used to and are stored and taken care of better. You will be fine. Using the better methods and materials doesn't hurt on limited use but can be most benifical on a daily or race car where a heavier than average driver is getting pushed into a seat...

    Seat Foam

The spring steel wires woven into the burlap was used as an attemt to spread the load across the springs. Poor attempt as it was. Proof is in the condition most seats are in today. It is the original method used by Chrysler if that is important to you. If you wanted to accomplish the task in a...

    Seat Foam

You wouldn't necessarily have to go out and buy the burlap unless you wish the bottom of your seats to look original. The burlap's role in seat construction is a method to keep the foam from pushing thru the springs while being compressed. You may have something suitable even better than...

    PPG Duracryl dash paint

Any high grade lacquer thinner will work . Avoid the cheap clean up thinners. As mentioned above low humidity and moderate temp spray day is best. Best to use lacquer primer under lacquer paint to be safe. The strong thinners will soften nearly every other kind of paint product leaving behind...

Who Makes One Quality One-Piece Carpets?

If you can't find a premoulded carpet in one piece and are determined you can always mold a few yards to your floorpan. Get the polypropylene backed rather than rubber as it will take a set with heat. Bit of a workout but do able.

    Keeping that smell

New car smell is what cars are made of. When they are new it is a combination of paint, undercoating, plastic, vinyl and rubber that is still fresh. As the cars age these materials cure or dry out and the new smell fades. Some of these materials will absorb other smells along the way. The...

    First time headliner install tips

Install the visor, dome light and coat hook screws half way in so they are easier to locate after installed headliner has them covered from view. Don't over cut the listing sleeves at the end of the bows. They hold headliner up thru the curve at ends of the bows. Number one cause of sagging.
