LOL, his thread is exactly what he wants it to be. I'll admit it was worth a few laughs along the way. Steve your a madman. Very funny, made it worth the read for me.

    Pinion Snubber or not?

I am not sure if Kramers car used a Lakewood or some other three bar. When I seen his car it was closed up and he was busy running the event. As far as I can tell the Lakewood's came out a couple years later than your target build date of 68-69. Al's Toy SS/BA also had the 3 bar and was not a...

    Pinion Snubber or not?

Hello Stefan, use the snubber and stick with your 68-69 historically correct theme you have been working toward. The SS/B's suspension will work just as it did 40 some years ago. The parts you have gathered are all engineered to work together. Bolt the rear leg plate of your 3 point bar directly...

    Refinishing Super Tricks

If you are determined to take the polish off of the wheels you have. You will have to take the bolts out of them, take them apart and spin them. Scuff the face with some coarse sand paper. It would be kind of close. More work than its worth really. I would just get another pair of wheels...

    Refinishing Super Tricks

Its not really that hard to find these wheels in unpolished condition. They are spun. Light and weak so you have to inspect them closely for cracks. Fragile wheels. They may look like the tougher centerlines but the similarities ends there. Centerlines are forged, heavier/ stronger. Powder...

did FABO miss the boat ?

Not sure when summit started selling parts but back in the 60s and 70s mother took care of her racers needs.

did FABO miss the boat ?

The carbs are built with the cast in air horns but the velocity stacks can be taken out. That's how the first holley dominators were made. Different length stacks were available for tuning. Mostly for isolated runner Prostock manifolds. 70-71.They only played with them a couple years and moved...

did FABO miss the boat ?

Where to start? You could build your entire race car using the direct connection catalog if you wanted. What was available changed some from year to year but not alot. You could get everything from a fuel pump block off plate to a aluminum dual plug Hemi heads. They had you covered from slant...

    76 Volare Dirt Track project.

Sounds like what they used to call the bomber class. Our local track closed back in the late 70s or early 80s thanks to the insurance companies. Was a good time while it was here.

    2 step time !

I see, 2 step = launch rpm limiter & upper rpm limiter all in one unit. I never used a launch rpm limiter before just an old mechanical rev limiter with springs & weights. Keep us posted if your consistently improves.

    2 step time !

Its true I am primitively old school but still curious. What is a two step? What would a switch on a clutch pedal activate? Solinoid for line lock?

    budget dana 60

I have always gone the truck Dana route. 20 years ago I cleaned out a local salvage yard of every Dana he had with a power loc. I spent most of the day in the dirt pulling covers. The good I Got them for 75. each. The bad they had many different spline side gears in them and none of the...

    external oiling system, why?

Not a dry sump that has a external oil tank. This is still a wet sump. It has a screen on the pickup. This system is generally used with a long rotor pump and a large oil pans for higher than stock rpm engines that need more than stock oil capacity. Racing rpms can empty a stock pan and...

    8 point roll bar

This is my version of the 2 x 3 box tube connectors. First made 1/8" plate reinforcing plates for the front rails. Cut the rear frame rails and floor to slide the tubes in. Made to weld to the front of the inboard spring box's and front reiforcment plates. Welded everywhere it could be...

    weight reduction ideas.

300 lbs. to go. It can be done the expensive way or the cheaper hard way. Buy a lighter part to replace the heavier part your running now. Or you could labor 300 lbs off the car with wrenches, scrapers cutoff wheels and drills. Its when you do both that you end up with a light car.

    weight reduction ideas.

Remove all undercoating and not needed parts. Use aluminum or lighter parts where possible. Shorten all bolts that have more than two threads extra length. Drill holes, lots of holes.

    How to get 1500+HP

Reliable 1500 HP is easily done at low rpms with diesel's. Gasoline engines with power adders + high rpms. Not as reliable but likely more the kind of fun your question is directed. I would have to go the nostalgic route with a 671+1st or 2nd gen. Chrysler Hemi. It has proven itself capable...

IHRA expermenting with a 11.50 index class. No (box/elec). Very cool, imo!

The way I see it is if they want drag racing to be as popular to the mainstream culture as it was back in the 50s & 60s duplicate it. Danger be damned. Even the music and movies of the time were influenced. NHRA ruled it to the point of being boring for spectators and even some racers. If...

    holley metering block ?s

Fishy68 I haven't been able to locate my # drills. I must have loaned them out and they disappeared some time ago. I will have to order a set to get back with you on the sizes used. That may be the best we can do on these. I may have to get some new inserts and drill them for a particular...

    holley metering block ?s

Yes. Allen plug screw in brass inserts. #6, 8s & possibly 10-32 next to the power valve.I believe. I noticed they were different than Holley's ultra HP blocks like you say. I also seen where holley sells raw or unmachined HP blocks. I am starting to consider this is their origin.

    holley metering block ?s

Rob I am the kind of guy that cleans a carb and puts it back to factory stock and tunes from their. I wouldn't know why anyone would make something like this. Smarter than myself I guess.
