Nice work so far with the dissection. Cool to get a glimpse here while you have it opened up.

    Finished! Brutal 'Cuda

If you used the yellow contact cement that comes in a metal can. Quart paint can not the aerosol type. It will hold up and remain stable for many decades as long as it doesn't get wet. It does cure and is unaffected by heat. If you used the aerosol spray trim adhesive it is formulated to never...

I believe you are correct about the steering box being moved for steering shaft (coupler) clearance. I had to move the box as far over to the left as I could to gain room for the larger tube hooker headers while fitting a hemi. By cutting the box mount off the frame and moving it outboard it...

    Turning back the clock

I couldn't help myself, gotta ask. Seen in the pictures posted the steering box brace. I take it it is welded to the shock brace? Am I also seeing a chain suspension limiter?

These are some of the coolest mopar pictures posted. Right up there with the Tom Myl restoration. You can't top a genuine racer.

Awww, they cut the front sheet metal away. Your off to a good start. I would love to restore an old racer with some history. Its an a body with a Hemi as a bonus. It don't get any better.

I would suspect he was referring to the difference in the chassis/body between Prostock and Modified production cars. The prostocks got tampered with to a whole different level.

Very cool you got to talk to Gary. Sounds like you will hear first hand how to get the car returned to correct. You know we need details on this creative engineering.

    1955 desoto fireflite convertable

Absolutely beautiful car, I luv it. You've surely got to have a fortune in paint and chrome to get her looking so fine. I have a project 56 and can appriciate what it takes to restore a DeSoto. Congrats on your efforts and hard work. Very stunning reward you have there.

Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

Guys I have a set of 15" Shelby cal 500 slots. I always figured they were aftermarket since the fronts are 3 1/2" and the backs are 11" wide. Mine have the 5 ear caps that are held on with screws. Probably from the late 60s or early 70s? Let me know if you want a picture of the shelby caps or...

    Biohazard

Looking good. It helps to put a couple rings at the midpoint of the spring to keep them from shifting side to side. Not absolutely needed since these rear seats don't usually get used. But I wouldn't skip it on the fronts. Your attention to detail on your project is mindbogglingly. I feel...

It always seemed the logical evolution step from the factory hood on these cars to me. Has kind of the same style just badder with extra room for a taller intake. Can't wait to see it installed in primer.

The 300 hinges look a little spindlely for the weight of a old car metal hood? I'd drill lots of holes. That style road runner scoop looks great on the barracuda body. Your definitly going the extra mile to finish it proper top and bottom. I'd buy one if you ever felt inclined to pop a...

    Biohazard

Just so you know those 1" spaced wires laced thru the burlap were spring steel. The reason they are used over the coil springs is to spread the load across the seat. They are meant to spring back to straight once a person leaves the seat. The only reason the factory used burlap was cost and...

Left for Dead 68 Barracuda Buildup

I made the heater blower block off plate since I had a suitable piece of aluminum in the shop without waiting on an order. I will use some of this sheet for mounting the ignition box's also. The plate looked a bit plain so I polished it and put a decal on it. I have been on the hunt for...

While I was in the polishing aluminum mood getting the thermostat housing into shape I also polished the lid on the cool can & master cylinder relocation block. I added a 70's sunoco 260 decal to the lid and will likely polish the entire can eventually. The handle is a drawer pull I slid a...

I also found a couple of the discontinued ballast resistors I have been having trouble locating. They have a very heavy duty look to them compared to stock. They are rated @ 1/4 ohm which is what the race coils call for. I believe I will put the ignition box's and ballast on a aluminum...

Left for Dead 68 Barracuda Buildup

Small update today. I finally found a suitable N.O.S. fiberglass fan for the engine. It was still in the package and in new condition so it should be as safe as can be expected from such a debatable part. It is marked tested at 10,000 rpm. Of course this was 40 years ago but I am willing to...

    Finally got my M-Code Cuda

I like your thinking and where your going with the car Jim. I have two 68 fastbacks. One with a Hemi and the other I am setting up with a 440 six pack, 18-spline & Dana. My six pack car will be just for the street. Looks like your starting with a nice car and a "M" to boot. Sadly I've...
