Making a car difficult to steal

Yes this is an old thread, but the problem has just gotten worse, especially since the value of our cars has risen. Having spent a lot of time (months!) on the road in my 70 Dart GT in the last year, and plan to do so again this year. I have thought about this a lot. On the road I always stay...

    Parts Cache

Doc, As you go to stash all this stuff, especially stuff that you REALLY want dry, our local hardware store sells really heavy giant zip loc brand sealable bags. Big enough to fit an intake manifold in the bottom.

    Are these valve covers factory?

Yes the original photo (post #1) linkage uses a spring from the kickdown slot to the bracket at front. I think that it functions (using that term loosely) as a kickdown return and throttle return. This means that the function of the slot in the kickdown is completely negated (keeps the...

Carb help * the famous debate and 2x different cars

Can't you guys have your (to most here) esoteric engineering battles some place else, perhaps an exchange of PMs. This really isn't helping the OP with his very straightforward request for advice. You have really hijacked the space.

Carb help * the famous debate and 2x different cars

Well, back to the OP's question. Both of the cars are primarily street driven, correct? If I were you I'd stick the 750 Eddie on the crate 360 and drive it for a while, see what it does for the type of driving that you do - you already have it, you might be surprised. Don't screw around with...

    Identify 69 Dart Exhaust Tips

Back in the day when we wanted to put on larger diameter tail pipes, we would slide the new diameter pipe over the stock tip and mark the "swell" where the pipe hit, cut off the end of the tip and weld it to the pipe, or to a slightly larger piece of pipe that would accept the new tailpipe.

    Mopar Action subscription

Mopar Action has always been head and shoulders above the other Mopar magazines - better and more dependable tech columns and articles. Again, I really hope that these guys resurface somewhere or we have all lost a significant source of accurate information.

Street Freaks, Customs, Rods, Street Machines...60's 70's 80's

I love that last picture, and remember that phase where we all painted the underside of the car white including wheel wells and rear end housings. It was the thing for a while and for the cost of a box of white enamel paint spray cans, you could be cool too!!!

    New Edelbrock intake quality issues

I used to complain that Weiand 340/360 manifolds had ports that looked like small port 318 sized, but at least all the meat was there to gasket match them to the heads perfectly. With **** like that speedmaster above, how would you even be sure that they would seal?

    Indy Aerohead

Measure the valves. The 318 heads that I bought from them several years ago came with 1.88 intake valves (usually 360 valves) for not much more money than stock valves - yours might have 'em!

Differences between 70/71 and 72 Darts

Fenders would bolt on and you can even use 72 fender extensions and grille - just the markers are different. You can get a patch welded in the recess for 70-1 markers and the 72 markers holes are easy to reproduce. 70-1 markers are better looking IMHO - depends on if you want it as the factory...

    Jamie's advice

In 1988 I bought a 1970 Dart Swinger from an old lady. The cars weren't worth much in those days and the plan was to drive it until it needed major work and then use it as a parts car for my other 70 Dart (which had a lot of sentimental value). One thing led to another and here is the Parts...

    Your first mopar...?

1970 Dart Custom 2 door - 318/904/7 1/4. My Dad bought it new in 1970 and I bought it from him in 1975. This picture is from our wedding day 8/7/1976 (dig the wide lapels and bell bottoms). Same car today, 340/727/ 8 3/4. Still driven regularly by myself and the chick in the picture.

Cliff Gromer of Mopar Action with my Dart GT at the Mopar Nats. He took lots of photos and interviewed me for 20 minutes. We'll see if it ever shows up in the Magazine. He did pick it out of the show field as his pick for the Top 5 cars in attendance. It also took the top prize for A-Body...

    Who remembers Valiant effort

Back in the 1990s I hung around a body shop where everybody drove and raced Mopars. When the owners little brother turned 16 they built him a nice stock 68 Valiant 4 door with a 318. After a while the shy youngest brother admitted that he was taking a lot of flack at school because his older...
