The number of leafs in a spring does not effect the ride height of the car. It does mean that the spring are more stable. If 6 leaf springs raise a car 2 inches, it's because the springs are arched at a level above stock. You can order 6 leaf springs from ESPO that deliver stock ride height...

At least with the 8 3/4 you'll have a rear that your car could have been ordered with and you'll still have small bolt pattern. They are damned well indestructible in a case like yours, and adding a Sure Grip won't solve the inherent weaknesses in the 7 1/4.

YES as said above. That wire bail is designed as a cure by Chrysler because once you take the metal cap off, I have never gotten it to seal again and stay there. I'll never fix a coupler again with out using one. Doesn't DMT sell them?

if you replace the 'stat housing you can get new cast iron ones from NAPA - more leak resistant than the aluminum ones (IMHO).
