    Build me a Small block

What does that mean " save the engine failure for another shop"? I know this motor. As I followed it from day one. And we all know that things happen at those contest. Iirc the other contestants also said that the dyno was f'd up. And after having them re dyno'd, it proved the machine was off...

This has been driving me NUTS

Well, i think, if i remember your build correctly, is you have to much carb. An 800 is way to big. It may choke it. Im also not sure on the cam specs, but i know the teens like the Voodoo 403. To be hounest, i hope you win, but i think he's goona get you. Form what youve said, with the carb...

Is he changing the pistons? If not, thats a mistake. Have him throw some KB167's in there. He's using alot of lift from what it looks like. The pistons will help with compression. Id shave no more then .002 of the heads, and use a thin head gasket. Then the airgap will be fine with a 650 carb.

Looking for a little more power out of a 318

Actually, thats not what i ment, lol i ment if you dont have them, there are better heads to chose from. The 302's need alot of work to flow as well as other heads with less work. A little "clean up" on a set of 302's is a waste of money IMO, unless you do it your self, and still then, it would...
