Yes I found welding 3 mil aluminium surprisingly easy, even with my poor welding skills.

I had a RMD originally, but wanted something that replicated more of a factory look. So I fabbed a new dash with 3 ml Al. using basic hand tools, with Al. tubing for the large guage shrouds. I'm not knocking the RMD but for me, I am much happier with the one I made for little outlay!

Your 68 what? In my 68 cuda there are mounting points for the rear lap belts on the floor pan.

My 68 had vinyl covered side cargo panels. They were in Ok condition but I wanted something tougher and more textured. So I sprayed the panels with Gravitek Stoneguard to provide the texture and then painted over that in saturn black. Came up tops. I dont like the carpeted look.

I bought a new dashpad for my 68 cuda from PG Classics, $195 and it looked and fit perfectly. Try them. www.pgclassic.com

Not sure what you mean by asking whether there's anything you need to do to "connect" the guages in place of stock. Do you mean wiring them into the stock loom? If so Moparaction did an article on this some time ago. It's a relatively simple thing, if you need the article reference let me know...

Amen. Love the look of the OEM seatbelts, beautiful aircraft style buckles and all that strapping oneself in for the ride! Boring, utilitarian 3 points, gaudily exposed hanging down the imaginary B pillar on 2 door cars when not in use, leave me cold....lol

Thats a Rallye wheel, I have one on my 68 cuda. Horn pads come up frequently on ebay. Many of your salvage yards over there would surely have them laying around as well. Same goes for the horn mechanism and horn pad retainer (if you dont have that either). You can also get a brand spanking...

I did this right hand drive dash using 3 mm aluminium, never welded aluminium before and to my surprise found it hard to weld through this thickness - and I am a hack welder, no doubt (I wont show you the back of the panel!). So dont be afraid to give it a try. I did the bends in a vice...

You mean the retrosound unit do you Jaws? I like the look of them, something I could mount in my custom dash and not look out of place. I'd just use the zip drive, deleting the CD changer. Tell me, what's the sound like with these units?

Nice. I got my dash pad from PG Classic, $195 USD looks the same as your's. Either way, they're a lot cheaper than other vendors.

I dynamated the whole inner firewall. Didn't use the factory insulation. Cant say how well it works as the car is not yet on the road.

Yep, right hand drive, I'm here in Australia. It's my own conversion from left to right although a few 2nd gen cudas were shipped over here and converted to RHD by the factory for local Chrysler execs. The more I think about it the more I'm leaning to satin black,gloss may be too reflective...

I'm repainting the dash frame for my 68, for the 3rd time. I had it painted a gloss black epoxy enamel which looked quite OK, but I suspect the factory paint was a satin black. But if I go with a satin black the dash won't match the gloss black on the tops of the doors. Was this how the factory...

Yes Doug, that was me. Thanks for letting me know. I do see Brewers have repro sticks (without the Hurst logo) but for that touch of authenticity I guess I'll just have to keep me eyes out on Ebay to see what comes up.
