Rear tire width max for 67 Barracuda

For my 2 cents worth rears should be fine. I run 275/60/15 with 8 inch rims 4.5 backspace and they fit perfectly inside the wheel lip with no rub. But I do also have inset leaf springs using the Dr Diff kit which moves them in I think from vague memory 1/2". 275 rears sure do look good on our cars.

Cragar rims - brake clearance issues

Hello All, It's been a long time since I've posted here. To cut a long story short I've been separated from my '68 Barracuda for the past 4 years (after moving for work and having to leave the car behind) but in the past week we've been reunited :) So I'm busying myself ironing out a few bugs...

    Will 275's fit?

275/60s with 15 x 8, 4.5 inch backspacing no problem on mine, perfect actually. But my axle width and spring location is not stock (fr0m to drum rear axle 58 1/4 inches from memory, and I have 1/2 inch spring relocation kit. But then again 275/60s also fitted on the previous set up where I had 4...

    Dog Dish or Torque Thrust?

Yeh do both.....I will eventually be picking up some steelies for my cuda to interchange with the cragar SS grey series I currently have....change the whole look of the car in an instant.

How about these wheels on my 71 Swinger?

I like the pulsars much better than the 141s....torque thrust style wheels are just so common IMHO.

    Mopar hubcaps

Mopar, Chevy and Ford all had these style caps, although they are more commonly associated with Chevy and Ford and in particular Camaro/Chevelle, Mustangs. I had a set of mint dodge caps which I bought from USA and on-sold here in Australia sometime later (after I sold the car I used them...

wondering if these wheels will fit my dart

I would say 4.5 inches would be the max without moving your leafs in some. Even then I'd suppose the rubber would sit pretty close to your leafs. Bearing in mind the max you can move your spings in without going inboard of the frame rails is 3/4" (I have an 1/2 inch kit from Dr Diff, but Mopar...

Anyone got Keystone Klassics on their A-Body?

I reckon Keystones are one of the best looking wheels around, particularly for 67-69 cudas and darts.

old cragars and a 72 swinger

As for the rear, I couldnt see how you could possibly have problems with such mild tire sizes and only 7 inch rims with 0 offset. 70 profiles may potentially pose a slight problem with rubbing at the front.

    Wheel spacers?

I have bolt on wheel spacers on the front of my 68 - not conversion spacers but 4.5 x 4.5 because my new cragar rims wont clear the aftermarket larger disc brake set-up I have. They add 1 inch to the track each side and I havent ever seen 3/4 inch spacers (small to large bolt conversion or...

    Barracuda tire Question

There is a groove in the lever (ie. part of the lower control arm) which the head of the torsion bar adjusting bolt sits in. It doesn't "thread" into the lever as such.

    Barracuda tire Question

If they still rub the lower lip of the fender, assuming the car is stationary and you have the wheels pointed straight, that comes as a surprise. Yes, perhaps you need to look at your ride height. But even with torsion bars adjusted up I dare say you would still experience rubbing at speed over...

    15 inch tire suggestion

Geez 245/60 on the front? I would hazard that you will run into significant rubbing problems with those donuts. My best estimate, using my experiences with my 68 cuda and Australian Valiant Hardtop (read 67-69 Dodge Dart) is that 225/60 15s would be the limit for the front, with 215/60 the...

That would seem an easy fit to me. Was there any particular fitment issue you had in mind?

    Centerline combo

OK, I'll give you my two cents worth. You are limiting yourself when you say you dont want to go any wider on the back than the front - I assume by this that you want the same tire and rim combo all round. You dont say what size wheels you want, 14 or 15 inch, but I will assume you are looking...

Will this combo fit without issues?

Really? Is the scamp wheelwell the same size as a 67-69 Dart wheelwell? Reason I ask that is that 275/60 tires would not go close to even fitting within the wheelwell of my 1970 Valiant Hardtop, which is bodied exactly the same as the 67-69 Dart - from the cowl back it was a Dart, all sheetmetal...

    New Cragar SS rims

Yeh, you may be right on that. I had the car out in the sun yesterday and the spokes had a nice metallic sheen to them, and looked great. Leave well enough alone I think.

Will this combo fit without issues?

absolutely no way u will fit 275/60 x 15 rubber in the rear wheelwell of that car.

    New Cragar SS rims

Thanks Memike! ...not many 2nd gen cudas here (or first for that matter), not finished yet but when I roll it out of the garage within view of the street it certainly attracts attention, cant wait till I can get it on the road (maybe within the next 2 months if all goes well).

    New Cragar SS rims

Well, the outer rims are polished, but nowhere near as shiny as ordinary alloy wheels. The surface has a textured machined finish, which I quite like. But yeh, maybe a little darker grey in the centres would be better. Overall though, very happy with them much better than the ultra shiny cragars...

    5x100mm to 5x4.5" adapter?

    New Cragar SS rims

Nah, they are basically original style cragars with a grey centre. I might consider painting the centres a bit darker though, like a gunmetal colour
