I ran a RMVB with the stock column shift in my vert for 3 years. First 6 months was with the 7 1/4 until it exploded the spider gears. You get use to shifting it on the column pretty quick.

I sheared the spider gear pin on the original 7 1/4 in my car leaving a stop light one night. Decently built 318 with 70 series radials. Lined up against a 68 Camaro at the light, when it turned I took off and halfway through the intersection it let go.

First if you think the trans had any service done to it then bet that the incorrect fluid was used in it. Atf+4 only in the Chrysler trans. Most non dealer places like to use a generic with an additive that they say works just as well. It doesn't. Also the trans "learns" learns your driving...

First question would be are you using atf4 and only atf4. Anything else even with the magic additive will give you the issue you have

I ran.one in my cuda until I started the restoration. Always loved the 1 st gear coasting and the snapping shifts. If I wasn't doing an overdrive behind the hemi I wouldn't hesitate to throw that tranny back in the car just for the valve body

I ran one in my 68 when it was a daily driver and loved it. I also kept it on the colum which made for a great sleeper look. Always took people buy surprise when you broke the tires loose hitting secong while shifting from the colum.

I also ran one in my cuda for years and kept ther shifter on the column. Would always get a look when it chirped second ans the guy next to you would see the shifter onthe column. I think it will be going behind the 6.1 for awhile when I put it together.

The only experience i have with them is that we run it in our fleet trucks. I have not seen an increase in longevity on the trannys. All seem to last about as many miles as the regular fluid.
