    1970 Swinger 340 Hemi Orange 4 speed

So much awesome Randy! I feel your pain on the body work-I'm doing some of that fun stuff myself. I need to go buy some HS and poly primers...probably a couple gallons. I bought an Airgunsa AZ3 with a 3.0 tip for the poly primer, haven't used it yet, but I wanted to get the biggest needle I...

Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

true story--so far this week I've felt like every last bit of energy I have is sapped by the time I walk out to my car...pretty sure I'm on autopilot driving home.

Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

I guess there's worse things to get in the way lol We don't have kids, so I have a lot more flexibility than many, but when it's as warm as it has been here (hovering around 100 for the past week or so), really pulls the wind out of your sails to want to work on anything after getting home from...

Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

I don't recall ever having it when I was younger doing body work or using rattle cans for the past 20 years of so...guess it's all the strong solvents in 2K paints and such...and one particular trip to the sandbox about a decade ago. My first trip to Qatar while active duty in the AF; about 4...

Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

Looks like I've missed a couple posts or so-but I know how you feel here...not so much with getting sick, but I've done a couple minor repaints on my wife's Mustang (horizontal surfaces from clearcoat failure) and my eczema went nuts for about three weeks. I wear a filtered mask, but if I don't...

Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

I'm diggin everything about this so far-I have a 72 in need of much work but it's gonna have to wait until I assemble my other project car (84 Mustang GT) in my shop to make room for all the stuff that'll come out.

    Deathtrap, My 74 Plymouth Scamp

I haven't, and while I'm not the biggest advocate of imprecise balancing, it will get you going without having to break it apart...worst case, maybe some careful grinding around the weight and chisel work and you should be in business...

    I dig it

The insulation looks good-what kind did you buy?

    1974 Scamp some assembly required

Fortunately, wiring for these is pretty easy. The biggest problems are brittle connectors and hardened or cooked insulation, which is part of the reason I'm not a fan of ammeters, generally speaking...I'd rather keep the major current paths out of the cabin.

    '72 Scamp-not really a "restoration"

My upper corners were pretty decent...it was the lowers that were caca...wire wheels are my friend lol

    '72 Scamp-not really a "restoration"

I laid down some of that single stage just to keep the channel from corroding again. I have a new gasket and front glass, just gotta go get it and let them sit together for a little bit before I try popping it in. Yeah, it has a lot of trash in it, but it’s only there for the channel and to...

    '72 Scamp-not really a "restoration"

Thanks Dan! You’re far too kind-mine is in dire need of lots of attention and for the time being, it’s not my focus. But I’ll be swapping on some quarters and other metal off a ‘71 Scamp eventually. It’ll get some attention, just gonna be a little while.

Father, Son, and Grand Father project. 1963 Valiant

Yeah, that makes sense-I’m thinking of all the seat belt and seat mount bolts and such...for both my Scamp and Mustang

Father, Son, and Grand Father project. 1963 Valiant

That’s some good stuff right there-way to go grandpa! I’ll have to see if I can utilize the hot pipe tip next time I replace carpet...not so sure how it’ll pan out for colors other than black, but might be worth a shot

    1974 Scamp some assembly required

I think the aerosol paint system they mix up in my town is either sikkens or UPOL. I haven’t used it but I know they can.
  22. txstang84

    1974 Scamp some assembly required

You absolutely can...there are hundreds of places that can mix custom aerosol paints for you in factory color codes-even in little old Abilene, Texas we have them. It’s probably not show winning paint, but if all you need is some touch up or area repair, it’s a nice option.
