    Fuel Line Mod Concerns

...pictures would really help here. If you're concerned about your fuel line being overheated, you can make a standoff bracket, or you could put a chafe/heat protective wrap on it...

Too small to tackle? Unless they're only charging you like 30-50 bucks, it's like free money to a shop that does simple machining operations and welding, right? I took a piece from the Hughes cam snout extension kit to a local machinist here a few years ago. The spacer was a small piece, and...

Others are uncomfortable getting involved simply due to liability...without some form of litigation protection, any work they do which failed due to whatever circumstances could potentially end up harming you, leaving open a route for civil charges and no **** federal pound me in the *** prison...

man, it's been a hot minute since I've viewed this thread John, I hope all's going well and things are stable with you and the missus. Any updates?

    Using 8 3/4 with /6

I looked on summit and ebay; Motive and a couple other mfrs still sell ring and pinion sets for them (3.55, 3.90, 4.10)...kinda surprised actually. They are a little pricey though--about $250-$300. Also saw a set of NOS 3.91 gears on eBay for $175. And I have seen SG units in the classifieds...

Thanks for the reply John. I look forward to seeing the new steering arms and how it all goes together.

Pretty interested to know how that AJE rack conversion K member goes...there were some less than happy customers I found elsewhere on the web...according to one guy in particular, the control arms would bind on extension, ackermann angles were off, bump steer sucked, and the rack needed...

Nice--sounds about right too, on both parts of the discussion. Either way, man, you need to get some pics up to break up this tangent so we can marvel how at home that engine will look in there

Touche! I see your point, and I've shared company with many a Jeep enthusiast over the past almost 25 years-I harbor no ill will toward any of them, and fully respect them for being hard headed or even contrary...it goes with the territory. I can't recall how many times I bled on friends'...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

Excellent--too many times, even up to recently, I was dumb enough to engage a fruitless argument...not trying to do that here. It just seems counterintuitive to me that one manufacturer would use that readily accepted variability within the technology, and another wouldn't...but we are...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

I'm not trying to argue with you here, but I'm about 99% positive that statement is inaccurate. Ford EEC-IV systems from '84 to '95, for example, were OBD1 and they did self-learn, and the multipliers in the programming allowed a good deal more adjustability than I think you're giving credit...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

Ehh, I wouldn't say that-as a matter of fact, I'd straight out disagree...I've seen it a few times where complete new free flowing exhaust required new jetting, whereas your factory fuel injection system will use adaptive strategies to figure out what fuel injector duty cycle to use based on the...

Yeah, that's an option...I think Flowmaster and others make dual in dual out inline mufflers though...Walker comes to mind. I dunno man, it's really whatever floats your boat and blows your hair back...nothing wrong with true duals, but if you're gonna go true and performance, what's stopping...

I think I understand what you're saying, but if you mean you plan to run two pipes from the manifolds out to the tail, that still means you'll be buying twice as much pipe (from manifold to back bumper, cuz the pipe comes in 8' sticks...and you typically will need a couple sticks per pipe)...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

Sorry--been away from this forum for a minute--Yeah, that would work, I'm just thinking that a couple sticks of 2.5" pipe would be cheaper than 4 sticks of 1.75" pipe...BUT, it's your car, and as evidenced by other people on other threads, I'm not allowed to openly ponder or wonder about the...

...horseshit...a sherman tank V8 has been shoehorned into a '70 Mustang before...a 5.9 Cummins will fit...it might not be pretty, and you'd have to do some serious engineering, but it can fit. That being said, if you wanted to drop a diesel in a Dart, use a 4BT...smaller, only weighs as much as...

Damn-2700lbs? Yes, that 4.0 ought to move it along smartly! It should be just fine with a single, and yeah a decent header shouldn't cost all that much--I think even the stainless ones are in the reasonable price range, whether or not they'll interfere with your T bar or steering parts...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

I knew 2 of the 3 you mentioned...just everybody else's parts, and just empty every pocket--although, I've experienced the last one too...just expect endless problems. A friend's '82 CJ7 absolutely ATE a left front hub on one weekend. Turns out he didn't fully wash out some debris after a...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

Yes :) I used to hang out with a handful of Jeep folks...most of them were just as broke (financially) as any of the other gearheads and only talked about the things they wanted to do with their Jeeps...just like all the rest of us.

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

Totally understandable...if you're the type that doesn't mind reusing gears you can find basically whatever ratio you want either from a truck, Mustang, Explorer--whatever. Man, I'm growing some interest to see how this works out--seems like an easy way to gain some cubes for sixer guys out...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

I think there are a couple threads in the drivetrain section about using Dana 44s out of Jeeps in A bodies...funny part is, many people in the Jeep world buy Ford 8.8s to retrofit the 44s...there's another thread about that and the swap is becoming a little more commonplace from what I can tell.
