    70 duster getting some boost..

How the hell did I miss this build before?? This is gonna be a full tilt bravo alpha ride. Can't wait to see more! :) Mad Dart, I need to catch up on yours too...you both make me want to spend money I don't have so I'll at least have all the parts waiting for my Mustang when I retire from...

    Oh no :(

    Supercharger guys come in

Make sure your ignition system is solid and up to the task...close up the plug gap to about .028-.032"...higher boost levels can blow out the spark just like with heavy nitrous...and drop a heat range.

    Supercharger guys come in

I ran 12psi on 91 octane in a 302 with a small lunati cam...never pinged once. It's not specifically the amount of boost that requires race gas...it's the dynamics of the engine that require it. That being said, yes, E85 is a good alternative, as it's relative octane rating is closer to 100 or...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

Lol-he's just matching up parts like any other combo, c'mon Rob-you wouldn't want him wasting money on a unit that wouldn't work up to best potential would ya?

I am genuinely surprised at the numbers there, I'm still curious about the outlet temps even after the fuel goes through. Then again, meth injection would work pretty well I bet

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

Wow! Cool! Is that a 3-71? What all else is done to the bottom end and the head? What kind of exhaust? Numbers look more like an old school base model 5.9 Cummins

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

805, I haven't been following much of your posts, or your build, and I'm not trying to derail any plans you have, but have you considered using a centrifugal? An ATI P-1SC would push enough air to make and exceed your hp goal, the piping would be FAR easier, along with the intercooler plumbing...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

Like I said before, you'd have to fab something-just like with any roots type if you want to drop the heat soak. A slant gives you a couple square acres of space on the left side of the engine bay. Those blowers draw the air in from the rear, so if you can stitch together an inlet mated to a...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

And by comparison, a traditional 4-71 will heat the air more than an M112, especially on a 225...it'll also take a pretty good bit of twist away from the engine just to spin it-and that will only go up with engine speed. Even for a dual purpose vehicle, I'm thinking the M112 or one of the TVS...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

4-71 doesn't mean it's 284ci...it means thats the size blower used on a 4-71 detroit diesel...which is a 4 cylinder engine, where each cylinder is 71 ci...has nothing to do with the actual displacement of the blower unit. An M112 is exactly what it says it is coming from Eaton-112ci, almost...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

There was a fella from my home town-well, he raced at the track down the road from my hometown-a Duster with a slant...ran mid 11s, N/A IIRC, but we're talkin a gutted Duster and a uber pissed off 6...if you were by the traps at the 1/8 when he passed, your ears rang for a few minutes.

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

If you match the 300rwhp with a 2700lb car, it should be close-as long as the suspension is setup right...but I'm not a good estimator when it comes to that :) Regardless, it should be a load of fun
  24. txstang84

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

I can't really answer that, because the M90s were made for a few different apps. And 4-71s were usually made for V8 intakes...but if you have access to some sheet aluminum and are good with TIG, you could likely fab up whatever you want. Didn't mean to insinuate you didn't know what boost...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

Oh-I forgot about a coworkers GTP...he ported his blower housing and throttle body, pushed 300 hp at the tires...don't recall a boost number, but that Grand Prix would move along pretty damn well
  26. txstang84

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

I'm not saying it can't but, as mentioned above, boost is a function of restriction. If you're pushing an M90 head unit into a stock 225, very likely, but it'll heat up the air quite a bit and you might actually hurt the power capability. As soon as you up the duration and lift on the cam...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

People with the melted pistons were usually from Lightnings and 03-04 Cobras with the back left bank cylinders 7&8 because the air coming out of the blower was overtemped (because the blower is overpullied) and the intercooler loses efficiency on that corner-it's the last part of the intercooler...

    1.5L/90ci Blower On A Slant

The biggest limitation on those factory style M-90 superchargers, like the ones in the T-bird Super Coupes was rotor speed, and how they heated the air. The same things occurred with the Gran Prix GTPs...you can buy ported housings and they'll move the same air with less heat, but you're still...
