Ive had great luck with cams that are basically .455 lift with 220 degrees @50 Ive run this basic spec by several manufaturers and they work really well about as big as you want with stock convertor.

I do not have the cam specifics other than the previous owner states it was a .510 lift hyfraulic from Racer Brown. I can get the cranking pressure with the existing heads as it is still assembled,but don't currently have it.

I didn't build the engine so I don't know for sure what pistons were used. Runs fime on 93 pump gas with no ping/detonation. Has a racer Brown .510 hydraulic cam. Again I'm not looking for porting or max flow just want to clean up the transition from machined to cast surfaces and maybe smoothe...

Im not trying to "port" them just clean up the machined to cast transitions and maybe some minor smoothing to rough cast runners.

Ma Mopar was famous for using what was available. Lots of oddball stuff out there

That's a lot of cam and would not be happy in an otherwise stock 340. Would need more compression, gear and convertor not to mention valve springs and rocker gear.

I agree with Bad Sport. All will work but Chrome T-stat housings are famous for leaking.

Replace the intake with a performer rpm, put mild cam in it say purple sahft .484 or similar from your favorite cam manufacturer and you ar there.

Definately rpm. performer is very rpm limiting
