    Exhaust manifold gasket help please.

I NEVER use any sort of gaskets on cast iron manifolds..Slant Sixes being the exception. Just bolt them straight to the head and be done with it.

    big block burning plug wires

The way you have them routed has a lot to do with it...been through this a hundred times. Cylinders 2,4 and 6 should be routed UNDER the headers. #6 is the only one that will give you an issue because it will want to rest on the header tube. Use a longer wire than you need to, and loop it...

    Exhaust Manifold Hardware

They used the conical washers on all 5/16 exhaust fasteners. The small shank is more prone to stretch than the 3/8s fasteners, and the conical washer acts as a spring to limit expansion stretch.

    zoomies on n/a

You're going to throw away a bunch of torque. Zoomies work well with nitrous, nitro and superchargers as well as very high rpm n/a alky applications. Gas and carbs...not so hot

    Manifold washers

I disagree on the washers being used to protect the castings rather than the bolts themselves. Those conical washers only show up in two places...Slant Sixes (three positions) and the SB. In both cases the fasteners are only 5/16s. Exhaust manifolds that use 3/8 bolts and studs use standard...

    Manifold washers

The conical washers are intended to make up for the difference in expansion between the cast manifold and steel bolts. Without them, the bolts will eventually work harden and snap.

Exhaust manifold for 318 swap in 63 valiant

Better off with the 318 manifold than the 340. The problem with the Early A is not clearance at the steering column, it's how the head pipe has to fit between the framerail and torsion bar. Early A manifolds are the same as the later ones except their dump point. Early manifolds point...

Best way to fix this 340 manifold

If you're any good with gas welding, that's the perfect place to melt some steel. I fix stuff like that all the time.
