"H" or "X" Pipe advice Please

X vs.H The X pipe flows better than the H because there is no 90 degree bend that the flow has to go around, just a gentle transition.

If I am not mistaken, check the exhaust pipe behind the cat for the 2nd O2 sensor. That is where it is on my 98 Dakota R/T...about a foot back and on the top of the pipe.

x-pipe and exit in front of rear tires?

About 4 years ago Mopar Action did a Bold Beeper series on a Road Runner project car. 496 Barton motor, TTI 3 Inch pipes with an H-Pipe. Made 435 hp at the tires. They disconnected the center section at the headers and threw in the new TTI Nascar style X-Pipe and guess what happened...

x-pipe and exit in front of rear tires?

H-Pipe vs X-Pipe. Look at page 3. http://www.boyleworks.com/ta400/psp/exhaust.html The X-pipe will flow better than the H-pipe because the exhaust does not have to make 90 degree bends.

x-pipe and exit in front of rear tires?

Why do Vipers sound like crap? Is it because you hear only 1/2 of the exhaust. From inside it is like cranking up the stereo and putting the left/right balance to about 75% left. I am partial to hidden turn-downs. They take away alot of the 'blatiness' that tips give but you still get the...

    exhaust drone/harmonic resonance

Anytime you dump the exhaust under the car, you are releasing all the sound under the car which echos off the road and back to the bottom of the car. Ever driven across an expanded (mesh) metal bridge?? Ya notice how alot of the noise of the car disappears?? Run full pipes out the back and...

If you are going to install the engine and tranny together, do it like the factory did, from the bottom. Install everything on the engine an K-Frame and drop the body on it. Except the left tie rod.

Suggestions as to how to finish after the muffler

As MTNEMOMOPAR said....tail pipes with turndowns. Just like the old Mopar cop cars had. The turndowns put most of the noise down instead of back like tips do but you can still get the rumble. This is my dad's 68 Coronet cop car when it was about 2 weeks old. We had already shortened up the...

Can you run an engine w/o headers ?

Jomeper, Old wife's tale....run a lawn mower engine for about 1 minute with no muffler and then stick your finger up the exhaust side. It's is full of hot air and it is surrounded by a hot engine. And you will most likely burn your finger!!

    single exhaust for 318...what size??

Dakota R/Ts came with a 3 inch system from the back of the cat back! They have a Walker Dyna Max muffler and the system works great. Guys have put duals on them from the cat back and gained only 1 or 2 hp, so the single 3 inch is just fine.
