Know what you mean. When I had a 354 in my Dart same thing. People would stand and stair , half because they didn't know what they were looking at and half thinking .. How in the hell did you do that.

Just doing the research Del. Ive seen the prices on 340's IMO over priced but it fallows the theme of the build. There are plenty of 360's around here for reasonable prices if I can't settle on a 340.

I don't want a combo build . I should have made myself more clear. A good street engine . A 340 with some pop but I can run it on the freeway. I have a 68 dart 470 stroker . Not freeway friendly.

So where you hiding all these engines ? I know a lot of Mopar people around here and on the coast , they have nothing. Even went as far as asking a friend of a friend of a friend.

Looking at a 1972 340. I'm told its a solid engine. I will find out more as I go along but first what are your thoughts on the 72 engine being from the gas crunch era. Did Mopar scrimp on the engine or is it as good as the fore runners, in other words if it proves out , is it a good block.

Nope. 331 354 and 392 are the same size except the 392 deck is an inch taller. They make deck adapters if you want to change your 354 to a 392. I'm thinking about pulling my 354 and selling it also. My steering combination in my opinion is dangerous. I'm trying to find what others have done for...

From my understanding, talking with alot of the old Hemi guys. The L.a. 318 poly could be changed over, also the 325. Read Tex Smiths book on early Hemi builds. I don't beleave the 354 was ever a poly,its the same block as the 331 and 392. the 240 , 270 were concidered baby Hemis. Another good...
