I'm refinishing my floors and installing a new carpet. I loosened the accelerator pedal at the base, removing the bolt and two nuts at the bottom. I noticed a funky little spring/keeper which slid down the connecting rod. I can't seem to figure out how and where to re-install it. Any help...

My 62 Valiant V-200 has a red interior and the standard black rubber-mat "carpet". Does anyone know if the optional "custom carpeting" was black or red for this interior? -Dan
