Rebuilding a 904 with the later 2.74 / 1.54 gives a higher ratio first gear.
Who have done this or are using a later A998/999?
...how do you like the gear ratios?
For those that have used or are using 2.94 rear gears...how do you like them?
i realize that with tall tires and a long duration cam they woudn't be a good fit.
..there is currently a thread on a new A body 6 speed...i did not want
to hi jack it.
For those who have installed an overdrive transmission
which one are you using, how does it perform
pros / cons?
o.k. ...fuel gauge working correctly now (replaced float on sender)
....charging system working o.k. (replaced voltage regulator)
...now speedometer stops at 60 mph, otherwise it works fine and is accurate
your thoughts?
Tx in advance
have a nice 3.55 suregrip supposedly rebuilt but checked the pinion / ring gear pattern and it is not correct. Are there shims in the 489 case or is this set with the crush sleeve?
..is there a preferred year to use or any year to avoid?
wanting a 904 to use with a cast crank 340.i have the flexplate with the small bite out of it and will run a neutral balance torque converter.
the '69 shop manual shows the 318 converter stalls at 2100 - 2320
this has probably been asked, but for those running a 904 and 318 converter behind a stock or warm 340,what does yours stall at?
for those using a 904 behind a warm smallblock with an 8 3/4 rear axle.
how will the 904 and 7 1/4 driveshaft hold up if shortened?
that 904 yolk and universal look awfully small.
an 11- 12 inch torque converter would usually be for a stock application where an 8 - 10 inch converter would fall in to a race style category.
...why a smaller diameter for a race converter?
who has some experience with TCI torque converters?
Street fighter,Saturday night special....good/bad?
they are reasonably priced compared to a custom build.
...just for street duty.
..was reading Larry Sheppards' mopar performance book last night and in the section on crankshafts it says all '72 and '73 manual transmission 340's received forged crankshafts.
.. correct?
