    Sure grip

I have a 742 3rd member, 3.23 and clutch type sure grip. It's been sitting in the garage for almost 2 years. Being bored today, I decided to install it. Before installing it, I slipped...rather tried to slip the axles in. On one side it appears that the two splines in the sure grip are slightly...

    8 3/4 third member

I've got a used third member. Looking inside where the axles slide in, the two different sets of splines don't line up (sure grip). Is there any way to get these aligned without tearing it apart? If the answer is no....to change the gears, is it possible to use a height gauge to measure the...

    sure-grip issues

Just installed a 742 with sure grip and 3.23 gears. Let it run for 10 minutes at approximately 40 mph per the factory manual (that is what is listed if there is noise and to change the fluid and test before disassembly...I thought it would be a good idea to get everything lubed without stress)...

    neutral safety switch

I guess this is the right forum. 67 Dart converted from S6/904 to 360/727. The trans originially had a 2 prong switch. Then the shifter selector shaft starting leaking. Due to work demand, I took it in for repair. While under there, the mechanic said the safety switch was leaking and replaced...

    Rear end noise

I've got an 8 3/4 non suregrip with 3.23 gears. After a burnout in the local Home Depot parking lot which included some wheel hop, I now have a noise coming from the rear. Sounds like axle bearings to me. The perplexing part, at least to me, is that when the rear is jacked up, the noise isn't...

    Driveshaft length

Need some info on the length of the driveshaft for my 67 Dart. Currently it has a 360 bolted in with the Schumacher kit, 727 auto and an 8 3/4" rear end. Originally it was a slant 6, 904 and 7 1/4" combo. The Dodge factory service manual says 52 and some odd inches, but I don't think I'm...

    Shift shaft seal

How is the shift shaft seal removed/installed on a 727? I can't seem to find the info anywhere. After half a dozen calls, I found a place that actually knew what I was talking about and had them in stock. I need to bring the old one in as they told me there are two different sizes. Thanks
