Found this thermostat housing having been installed on my '65 Formula S with '66 four barrel intake manifold and 1980 318 cylinder block. "Made in Canada" means it's going right back on the engine (P/N 3698565). Appears to be an aluminum casting the factory installed in the 1970's.

Oddly enough, my search on this website found nothing specific regarding removal/replacement of A/C heater box in a '65 Barracuda. Need to strip this car for painting interior/exterior. I am starting this project today, I will check back here time to time as I progress. Thank you.

My concern is not with how tall/short or big/small the outlet on the right is in the foto. I am wondering about the bevel on the very tip, which makes it fine for installing the hose, but without that "rib/ring" on the very edge, I am picturing the hose slipping off at the worst possible time.

Those hoses with the ribs/ridges (like Lay's potato chips) can be curved to fit and look strong/mean compared to the smooth, lacking character pre-formed hoses. But from what I hear/read they are considered a no-no, wonder why?

Replacing my heater core this week, always wondered why some heater hose is black, and some was red?

I wonder if radiator shops clean and repair/renew old stock heater cores? After all, the heater core is just a mini-radiator isn't it? I would hate to have to purchase a Chinese replacement.

Going to replace the thermostat on a 3.9L (318 clone) Dakota and had to remove the A/C compressor to get at it. The thermostat gasket is one pretty thick piece of paper and it seems it would be more than adequate to fill any voids (large or small) in the intake manifold or thermostat housing...

My two '65 Valiant and Barracuda S automatics both have 22" radiators but different part numbers stamped on the upper tanks, I wonder how they differ?
