    Brake Bleeding

In the 70s, when I learned how to do this stuff, I was taught to work from the farthest wheel from the master cylinder, to the closest. Lately, I’ve seen it said that you should do the closest wheel first. Did something change, or are they talking about newer cars? Or does it just not really...

    Wire Wrapped Around Brake Line

What is its purpose? I'm guessing it's for protection against rub-through holes caused by vibraton where the line touches the surface it's running next to? I got to thinking about this as I'm replacing some rusted brake lines with parts store line, and it of course, has no wire coiled around it.

    Teflon Tape Usage

I'm installing the line lock on my Duster project. Is teflon tape necessary on the pipe threads involved? Or is it even okay? I.E. Will brake fluid attack it?

    MC Pushrod Removal

How do you get the pushrod out of a 74 Dart Sport manual drum master cylinder? I kinda remember puttng the pushrod in a vice and hitting the MC with a hammer. I just tried this, but I don't want to hit it too hard and break something. Been a long time. I'm installing a Dr Diff MC. It has no...

    Confusing Spindle I.D. Article

In this article: Spindle Comparison Near the top of the article it says that the "B" (F,M.J, etc.) spindle is about 3/8" taller than the "A" spindle. Then, in the 3 photos directly below, it says the "B" spindle is on the left in each one. In the first photo, that seems to be correct...

    Front Disc Brake Conversion Confusion

I know there are a zillion threads on FABO about front disc brake conversions. They mostly all regard unique situations. I couldn't come up with answers to my situation. So here goes: I have 74 Dart Sport (cloned onto a 70-71 Duster) it's a slant car with 9" drums and SBP. I've replaced the...

    Removing Self Adusters

Is it still possible to remove the self adjusting drum brake hardware and replace it all with a simple star wheel adjuster that has fewer teeth on the wheel? The purpose, of course, is to be able to keep the brakes adjusted a bit loose, so that they don't drag too much, especially when the...

    74 9" To 10" Drum Swap

I now have 9" all around. The rears will be converted to 10" when I put the 9" Ford rear in that I have, since it has 10" drums on it. What do I need, if it's possible, from what car(s), to put 10" on the front? What master cylinder will work? They're manual.

    More- What Fits? D-150 Discs?

My '82 D-150 parts truck has front discs'. I don't know if they're original to the truck, but assuming (uh, oh) they are, would they work on my '74 Dart Sport that now has 9" drums?

What Fits?-9" to 10" Front Drum Swap

My '74 Dart Sport has 9" drums all around. The back will be replaced by the 10" drums that are on the 9" Ford rear I'm installing. What do I need to put 10" drums on the front? Spindles? Control arms? I'll grab the proportioning valve out of the '82 D-150 that has the 9" rear in it...

    Disc vs. Drum

I know disc brakes are supposed to stop better after repeated stops. I've never understood why drums aren't good enough for most applications. OEM must use them for some good reason. With them, it's usually about $, but it doesn't have to be. If a car already have discs, fine. It seems like...
