I bought an ex-cop 09 charger a couple of months ago, and I thought I'd share some 2nd impressions. The car has 147k miles on it, but the engine runs STRONG. The body is extremely rigid, the suspension is taut. Interior noise is low, and there are no squeaks or rattles in spite of the miles. The 5spd auto is smooth as butter, and the whole driveline(engine, trans, rear axle) are leak free. It handles great, and I have to say the Goodyear Eagle 18in UltraGrips feel pretty good. The only cons I've had were I had to replace the front calipers, and the outside visibility seems less than ideal.

it's not as cool looking as the latest generation, but with the overall condition and price, I couldn't pass it up. 88301.jpeg 88298.jpeg

that happened, yesterday. I think I made him and/or the passenger really nervous. Maybe I made them ditch their drugs or something, because when they realized I wasn't a real cop they pulled along side of me and flipped me off. I think I need to put some stripes or something on it to make it look less plain-wrapper, like most cop cars, before I get shot or something.

Does the odometer tell how many hours are on the motor as well as miles? I saw a vid that had an ex GM patrol car with a year of idling. IIRC it was still in good shape, even the DOD was still functional. Spoiler alert...nothing wrong with it, uneventful teardown. ABUSED was click bait.

my particular year/options do not show idle hrs. I believe I have the std instrument cluster, but I think the optional cluster does track idle hours. I think the optional cluster is std in the srt8. I don't have access to a super expensive scan tool either, but I think the idle hours are visible on a high zoot scan tool, also. I just don't know if the scan tool (idle hrs display) works on a std cluster.
I saw that vid, too. I was a little pissed that the title was misleading, too.

Theres a guy in upstate NY area that bought and sold retired NY State Police cars.
I bought a Diplomat many years ago, hiway miles, it was from the Troop in Plattsburgh NY on the Canadian border, what a great ride.
Police package, larger steering wheel, brakes, cooling, alternator, even had the Lollipop lights that flashed when you opened the trunk. Navy blue.
                Miss that car.

this guy I used to know had a really clean Lebaron (2dr diplomat kinda). I drove that once, I was very impressed with the ride and handling. Those bent torsion bars cars were pretty ok, too.

buddy had a Studebaker truck with a 400M Ford motor and a 'transverse torsion bar' front end out of a Dodge. Worked great. That's a pretty good system for a bolt up front suspension package.
