1.5 Or 1.6 On J-heads??

-
would stay 1.5, I think you put a lot of stress with 1.6s and the angles get tkinda harsh. They will work but i think it is better to get the lift you desire from the cam and stay in the 1.5 rockers.

That being said, they will work but you may also need to make sure the push rods are clearing Ok too.

racer brown uses 1.5 and 1.6 rockers with their setup. as previously mentioned, make sure the pushrods aren't going to rub in the heads.

It would be camshaft dependent and in concert with how well the head flows and what it flows.

A track/time slip will help decide for you.

well, im NOT choosing 1.6 to increase my cam but i THOUGHT someone told me to use 1.6 because of the SB valvetrain geometry and how bad it is.

i have a set of H/S 1.5's and CRANE GOLD's 1.6 which one to use?? i need to let the cam guy know which one im useing when i order my new cam.

my new cam WILL be right with the flow numbers of the heads.

had 1.6's on a hydralic cam one time to increase lift, stock rockers on it, it would turn 7000+ rpms, puty the 1.6's on it and it like to float the valves, tried 2 or 3 sets of lifters never fixed it they floated mid to low 6000's. on the solid lift setup i have on now the 1.6's work great, it will turn as far as you want it to, no problems, had to get a shorter pushrod for the solid in it now and the geometry came out good, good luck:happy6:

From everything Ive learned I like to have the cam ground with the desired lift using a 1.5 rocker,no clearance issues and its easier on the valvetrain.

Amen to that. I've said that before, just have it groiund that way.
