I am rebuilding my carburetor on a 1966 valiant. Took the float bowl cover off and discovered that the float bowl baffle is missing. Did all these carbs come with this? Is it neccessary. If so how can I get one?
Thanks for the help.

Is this a little piece that goes next to the float seat? Mine's missing and hasn't caused any problems that I've noticed.

Without the baffle, the car will want to stall on hard left turns and there'll be other driveability plagues—all of which the baffle helps with, but doesn't eliminate. All Holley 1920s were built with that baffle, so someone ought to have one for you somewhere.

I just pulled one out of a good carb, for a look/see. I can look at some of my junk carbs to see if there is one. Otherwise I don't see why I couldn't make one using my good one for a pattern. Basically just a piece of "sheet" metal with a small tab spot welded on.

WOW, that would be fantastic. My husband is retired sheet metal worker if I could get the pattern he could also make one.
Thank you so much.☮️
