I was wondering if the stock a-body 8.25 is wider then the stock 7.25 when mounting wheels on them? Also when converting to sbp drums in front to bbp disc's, does the track width become wider in the front also? The reason I ask is because I have a set of 1994-95 mustang cobra wheels that are 17x8 (back spacing is 5.72) with 245/45r17s all around and It looks like I will be needing spacers all around to use them if I convert to bbp.

These are the wheels I have, maybe someone can chime in and give me some advise..

A body width rears are the same, a mid 70s bbp 8 1/4 will fit if its from an a body.

Those wheels don't have much back spacing. I hope they will fit ok without rubbing.

I should clarify, spring perch to spring perch they are the same width. Flange to flange, the vary a bit.

The wheels have a 5.72 back spacing, which for an 8 inch wheel is more then half of the wheel. My 15x8 Rallys are only like a 3 or 4 inch back spacing and there is a little more than an inch of room between the leafs and 255/60r15 tires..

Out in the garage with a measuring tape I found that with a 1" spacer in the rear with the rear end the car currently has will be pretty close to where the wheels sit now. Of course for some reason the drivers side sits out further towards the wheel well by almost half an inch for some weird reason. Perhaps once I put the 8.25 in and then measure it again I can get by with less of a spacer. Heres the 1" spacers Im considering if the rear ends are the same from drum to drum:

In the pictures, the rear wheels are against the studs (7/8" long) and the fronts are all wacky because the suspension isn't settled (being on a jack) and sitting against the 7/8" long studs)And yes, theres a chunk missing from one of the wheels but it still seals. I'm now curious if a 245/45r17 will even fit up front without fender clearance issues or rubbing on turns with the steering wheel locked one way or another.

Have you actually tried turning the steering through it's range? Jouncing the suspension?

The 8.25 is wider but still requires a spacer. An early 66-67 b body 8.75 would be ideal for these wheels

They look good.

Its defiantly a different look, but this thing needs to be upgraded stopping wise (scary sometimes when you press the slow pedal) so bbp discs up front and an 8.25 out back with either the 11 inch drums that it has would be great, or I also have a friend with a rear disc brake setup from an Imperial that would be a bolt on deal and allow me to have 4 wheel disc..
Ive actually been trying to sell those 95 cobra wheels (bought them for my 95 Moostang Gt, but no one has bought them and I've had them more then a month for sale on cl, so I may as well use them while the tires are good.

It is still small bolt pattern so the wheels wont slide over the studs, they are sitting against them in the pictures. :rambo:

With a 1 inch spacer, the rears bolted right up with probably a quarter inch of space between the tire and leaf spring. Front wheels fit the 73+ disc setup after you open the center a bit to fit the hub, and they have the perfect offset it seems for the front. I'm not sure about rubbing yet on the inner fender (tie rods aren't hooked up yet) but it clears the outer no problem with the 245/45r17s!

Hmm, I just put a set on my Barracuda, 1" adapters out back until I can get my exploder axle going, and 1" up front with the BBP change. I might delete those spacers up front though, tire rubs the front fender when turning lock to lock (225-50-17's).
