i got a 1964 ball and trunion a833 which as of today is not functioning. i am able to put it into all the gears while the car is running but without pushing the clutch in at all. car does not move anymore prior it was my daily driver for 2 years with no issues. even with the car off i put it into gear to park it and it just rolls and does not engage into the gear. before this happened i started hearing noise while pushing in the clutch, also while taking off in first it would shake, but only first gear every other gear was fine. any thoughts or ideas?

Reverse? Does it feel like it is going into gear or just lime the shifter is moving freely? Early boxes had brass shift corks which are known to shear...... but I doubt both forks are broke, and even if they were reverse would work.

Have you pulled the lower clutch cover and had a look inside?

yes it feels like its going into gear when its running but i dont use the clutch to put it in at all. im going to pull the clutch cover tomo see whats going on in there

You might have broken the input shaft (Chrysler calls that a "pinion") but I don't know why

...............Just read you said "it shook" before it quit working. Surely must be something with the clutch

In either case it's time to jack 'er up and tear it out
