Vehicle:
This Early A-body UNRESTORED ORIGINAL Project is one with a great American backstory. This car was purchased "new" through a Chrysler Miltary Vehicle Purchasing Program by a Lt Colonel of the US ARMY who had it shipped to Germany during the Vietnam War. The odometer shows 13K miles on it which I believe are the actual miles based on the condition of the car inside and out. It has a "Pentagon" DOD(Dept of Defense) bumper decal on it that validates where it spent the majority of its time. After his tour of duty there, the car was shipped back to Washington, DC where it stayed for a period of time. It was flat towed from D.C. in 1978 by the nephew of the veteran who I purchased the car from 6 yrs ago. During that tow('78), the driver's rear tire blew out and bent the wheel opening lip slightly of the rear quarter panel. This spot and the tail panel are the only damage to the car's body; someone tried to break into the trunk and bent a spot around the keyhole. There's a dent in the passenger's side of the front bumper more than likely from the same towing activity. The car has about 1/4" of undercoating covering the entire bottom of it that is clearly decades old and has not peeled nor deteriorated. There is some slight surface rust from the barn leaks on spots of the roof, fenders, and quarters. The 225ci Slant 6 had a blown head gasket prior to being towed to MI, but the previous owner swore it was running before being stored. The exhaust was, removed when I pulled the engine. The radio still plays, and all lights are still functional. The Exterior is "white" (code?)and the interior is "Red". The carpet is intact but faded, the door panels are nice, as well as the headliner. It has a nice factory floor shifter that looks like an aftermarket piece. The driver's seat was chewed by some animal at some point in the barn but mechanically is sound. The steering wheel is solid and not cracked either. Otherwise, the rest of the interior is in its original condition and in need of a cleanup. All of the glass is good as well. I brought the car to Detroit(on a trailer) and placed it in my shop where it has been sitting for the last 6yrs; that's 40 yrs of storage. The 225 and 904 trans are out of the car now but are going with it. Title and some military documentation accompany the sale of course. The price is $5500 OBO.
