1966 VALIANT COLUMN SHIFTER TO FLOOR

Have a 1966 Valiant auto column shifter and want to put it to floor shifter . Can I just change shifter housing and replace it with a 4 speed , floor or push button housing without changing complete steering column ? Need help.. and Thank you..
 
Yes you can change the collar removing the auto collar.
I don't remember the 66 but my 67 I was able to remove the PRND21,cut off the lever attaching point
and using JB Weld to seal sand and paint. Saves having to look for a different collar.

Yes, but, I would remove the shift tube parts also while I was at it and install a new seal at the bottom.
