1967 273 Manifold Headpipe size/style

-
I bought a 67 273-4 Barracuda in 1969. The head pipe was a 2 into1 arrangement that merged into a larger pipe that led back to the muffler and the back to the resonator. I converted to dual exhaust by cutting the crossover pipe at the Y, capping the stub. Then the pass side was shortened and joined to a new pipe purchased from J.C. Whitney. With thrush mufflers it was pretty loud. (I got a ticket)

Anyway, no way were the pipes at the manifolds 2-1/4". They were small, I'd say 1-3/4" or 1-7/8. The rest of the system was larger and sounded awesome when it was stock. No factory 273 had dual exhaust.

Go larger, unless you're really restoring the car but it wouldn't be original anyway. No harm no foul,
