Hi Guys,
I have already pulled my gearbox out and apart ready for rebuild.
I forgot to mention that when I pulled the box out I found a tag that was under two of the top, side cover bolts. It was stamped 1-5-67. Doesn't look original ! There is a pad on the RH side but it is blank- maybe a warranty box?

From the look of the tag it looks like assy in 1(barely readable)-5-67. I would say that could very well OEM to your cars body. What is cars date of manufacture? That can be found on the fender tag and body stamping's (core support and left quarter trunk seal lip.

67's weren't marked for id like the others. The VIN markings started in 68. The 67 block markings were simple like: C 5 67, C=model year 1967, 5= month May, 67 =year of assembly. The 383 cars entered later in 67. The wide spacing on the posted tag is similar to the early block markings - I would say OE.

The nice thing for 67 and earlier cars were they went by casting and assembly dates - so close is good enough. 68 up block VIN's were exacting. The 66 and earlier used a trunnion drive shaft mount, 67 used small slip yoke with basic markings, 68 up used larger slip yoke but were stamped with car specific ID.

Hi Rocky JS,

My Rad support number is 7232102184. ( I have no idea what this means) but I assume it would have matched the Fender Tag and sequential build number.
Engine is a C-383 Engine stamping with the cast date of 2.23.67.
23rd of Feb for engine and 5th of Jan for Gearbox , Is that close enough?

Unfortunately at this stage I don't have a Fender tag. I have to Wait till September before they are doing certi cards again , then I can get Data tags to make a new one.
VIN tag is in place on drivers A Pillar.

Better pictures Tag and Rad support Number. Im guessing the first digit # 7 means 1967 ?

7 = 1967
2 = hamtramck assy plant
321 = March 21 scheduled production date
SO number 02184
all of this info should match the fender tag

trans 1-5-67 trans build date a few months prior to body is within a valid time frame. I would say it is original.

C = 1967 383 engine is for 67 model year. Is the engine cast or stamped 2-23-67? if cast that would be tough for me to buy - from cast, to assy, to car plant in less than 30 days, if stamped (assy) sure I'd buy that. BUT it's not totally impossible as these cars were a little "different" at that day and time.

For your car I would get the IBM build card from Chrysler historical. This is the card the fender tag, and build sheets were made from. If you get it I would be more than happy to decode it for you for the fun of doing it.
Data tags would likely require build card, and pictures of the body stamps and VIN tag to remake your fender tag.

I venture to say the number appear correct and consistent. It is a very fast build and I think early for a 67. I believe, the F/S 383's rolled out in April? This was likely an ordered car. Again, I'd love to see that build card.

Block cast - Thursday 2-23-67
(12 days later) Engine assembled - Tuesday 3-7-67
(14 days later) Car built - Tuesday 3-21-67

Wow, Thanks Rocky JS.
As soon as I get the IBM card I will forward you a copy. I find it amazing that this is all period correct running gear and/or numbers matching. It makes me wonder if I should bring her back to the original red paint.

That tag is an original tag. came on 66 67 era trans. The cases in mid 67 year started casting inthe boss, as trial run for the 68 versions for the vin stamp info. Note how they made it larger in actual 68 use.
