Where can I purchase a new underhood insulation pad with the appropriate clips for my 1967 Barracuda? I see them on eBay, but they vary widely and I want to make sure I order the right one. Two of the exact pads vary in price on there from $35 to $175. A NOS one would be nice, but probably ludicrously expensive. Can a genuine Mopar pad be had for a decent price anywhere? Thanks for the help FABO!

Chris

Edit: Answered my own questions and ended up finding what I need at Layson's Restorations. Can anyone speak to the quality of this reproduction pad? Layson's has been great to me in the past and Rick is a great guy. I expect the pad to be very nice but I'm open to hear some member's experiences.

legendary interiors, But you have to wait a while. I orderd a hood to cowl insulation on dec 22. I have yet to recieve it. When I call they just give me a date thats it's gonna be mailed. I'm not very happy

Make sure its IN STOCK before ordering. I believe the pad is made by REM which distributes to just about all the regular resto places.

I dont know how there could be a lot of difference in them ( other than price ) if they are made from the same material as OEM. It's just a piece of insulation. I like the looks of the molded ones with a more finished outer surface. I assume it wouldn't collect as much dust as the OEM material.
I know a mouse will use the original as nesting material under the throttle linkage. That probably applies to any of the different types though.
This is what I would buy for my 67...

Just be sure you're happy with the hood inserts and they dont leak before installing the insulation underneath.

Thanks for the heads up Peter. I've heard all the horror stories about the backorder blues. I'd rather not wait 2 years for a part if I can help it.

Thanks for the link. Waiting to hear back from Rick@Laysons about availability. I'm replacing the hood inserts and gaskets as we speak (read: type) and the car will never see rain, so I'm not too worried.

Update: Rick@Laysons is having the pad itself drop-shipped directly to me and the clips were in stock. Should have the whole shebang in a week or so. Thanks for the input guys and thanks Rick!
