Looking at a '69 Dart hard top that has a column shift a/t. Did any of these cars come with a floor shift AT? How difficult/expensive is it to obtain the linkage/shifter and install these parts if they are available?

Thanks,

It would have to be a GT or GTS in order to buy the console auto/buckets if I remember right.

I've seen several with buckets, no console, but column shift. I have the buckets but just want the shifter. So you say the GT's and GTS offered the AT on the floor? I know the Bcudas offered them and I guess those would fit....linkage/shifter w/b the most critical, consoles can be modded.

My Dart was a bucket seat with 3 speed manual trans on column. Obviously no console.
I would say Barracuda stuff would work. I'm pretty sure the floors were the same for Dart/Cuda.

Consoles go easily into the Dart with a columb shift !! Just have to weld a few brackets in place, and cut a hole for the shifter lever to drop down thru !!No biggy !

What linkage/shifter would I be looking for..........Dart or BCuda? Must it be the mid generation years? Maybe even an older or newer model ABODY??????????

Still curious: I never heard for sure if the DARTS came with an AT on the FLOOR.

Im thinking 68 to 76 A body.

My 68 GT is/was slant 6, buckets and auto on floor with console.

YES THEY DID! Had to be a GT or GTS to get the floor shifter.

from the dealer handbook it shows: optional in GT and GTS only bcoz bucket seats were standard equipment in those cars ....even still the console was an optional unit.....my cousin has a GTS with column A/T bcoz the original buyer didnt want to pay the extra money for the optional console.......now in 2012 consoles are not hard to find......if your low on luck ....PM me.... i have a console set up for sale ...complete with console shifter, brackets, and wiring...........the only difference is the top plates were chrome with a line in the middle for 66-68 and then they had woodgrain top plate 69-76 except hang ten dart which had a red insert in lieu of the woodgrain
